So on my paintbench right now are the last bits needed to field my Ultramarines according to the Apocalypse formation. While I have had a full company of marines for a while, one of my assault squads was broken up between bikes and speeders. Soon I will have the formal company completed.

Here is a pic of last time with was fielded en-mass, in a farewell to 5th apoc game:

Right now my “shelf” deployment is a mish-mash of useless. 5/6th of the tac squads are ML/F, the Devs are a grab-bag of assorted weapons, the command squad is a similar mix. So I want to re-tune what they have hanging out. Right now if I want to field marines, I grab bolter bodies from the company, spare specials from the extras shelf, and poach weapons as needed from the dev squads. I’d like to just be able to grab a full squad from the shelf and toss it into the case for travel. So I thought I’d ask for some opinions on how to set things up.

What needs to be included:
Captain
Chaplain
Command squad (w/banner)
3 Dreads (any type/config)
6 Tactical
2 Assault
2 Devastator
(all full 10 man squads)

As a start point:
Ultramarines 3rd Company, Scourge of Xenos.

Captain Aridias, Commander of the Arsenal. (Captain in AA w/SB and relicblade)

Command Squad:
Apothocary, BP/CCW
Standard Bearer, bolter
Company Champion (need new model, currently using a RT lieutenant w/powersword.)
Vet w/powerfist & BP
Vet w/ stormbolter (these two guys need to change)

Chaplain w/jump pack (pack and BP arm magnetized)

Tacs:
ML/F, Bolter sarge (need to keep the 1st squad like this for tradition)
ML/F, BP/CCW sarge
ML/F, BP/CCW sage
ML/F, Bolter sarge
MM/M, c-melta sarge (these guys are probably fine)
ML/F, BP/CCW sarge.

Assault:
PP/F, PP/Fist sarge
2xF, BP/powersword sarge (all but sarge have magnetized backpacks, flamers are also swappable)

Devs:
ML, HB, PC, LC. BP/CCW sarge
ML, HB, PC, LC. Bolter/ausepx sarge

Dreads:
Ex-captain Fabian, AsC/DCCW(SB) (old metal dread, my answer to fluff discrepancies in captain names)
Ironclad (hammer, HF)
Dred (multi-part plastic, arms swappable. Normally TLLC/ML)
(I have a ven dread kit which could be added, but these are my 3 basic guys.)

I realize I’m going to have to probably assemble some more sergeants, don’t have a lot of variety. I do have some spare melta/plasma gunners and the parts to make more. Heavies I have a total of 4 of each, except MM, where I just have one, and MLs, where I have more then I need (8 built, 3 in parts) I could possibly grab more from elsewhere if needed.

For what it’s worth, the motor pool contains 2 rhinos, a razorback, 3 pods, and a LR. While not enough to move the whole company around, it’s fine for any portion that is going to be in an army list.

So if you had a full battle company, how would you gear them up for sitting on the shelf and for apocalypse games? With the thought that generally 2-4 squads are going to be detached and supported by vets/scouts/tanks/etc for any given game.

While I applaud your vision, let me refine my question:

If you were gearing a codex-compliant battle company, how would you do it? You can assume any non-company assets you’d like, but I want to focus on the 107 marines and 3 dreads of the company itself. Particularly on their “stock” wargear options (which can be swapped if needed, but I want to set an effective baseline)
