I'm planning on going to a big tournament at the end of May, and I really wanted to get my Wyches done by then, but life is cutting in on my painting and converting time.  So I think I'm going to have to go with my back up plan and use my Necrons, because I only have a few of them left to paint.

How does this sound-
HQ-
Lord with Res Orb, Veil, Staff of Light- 200

Elite-
8 Immortals- 224

Troops-
20 Warriors- 360

20 Warriors- 360

Fast Attack-
4 Destroyers- 200

4 Destoryers- 200

Heavy Support-
Heavy Destroyer- 65

Monolith- 235

Total- 1844

So the idea is basically lots of mobility (because mobility is fun for me) and lots of dakka (for killing stuff).  I'm using two big squads of warriors because I have two means of teleportation- lord and monolith.  Most of the other stuff is quick- jetbiking destroyers and move and shoot immortals.

The comp rules for the tourney haven't come out yet, but I'm realising now that I'm under 40% troops, which isn't good.  Also, are there too many destroyers for comp or effectiveness?  I thought they'd be ideal as they are fast, shooty, and tough, and I wanted to play with moving, shooting, and moving again.

I really don't have anything that can fight in HtH which I'm not crazy about.  Would it be worth it to drop something (maybe one of the destroyer squads and the HeavyD) for a wraith unit with destroyer  lord?  That would be fast and could potentially chop some things up.

Any thoughts?

Drop the Heavy Destroyer for a Tomb Spyder, much more useful in keeping the destroyers alive.

You don't need to fight in hand to hand, because you just teleport out with the veil or monolith

However, the single Heavy D is better for objective seizing, etc.

I agree that mobility is the way to go. Just avoid h2h as much as possible, and teleport out of it when you can't. Your army looks pretty much like most other Necron armies, so I wouldn't worry about getting docked on comp.

Just out of Curioustity which NecronOmicon are you going to.

Current Armies: Blood Angels, Imperial Guard (40k), Skorne, Retribution (Warmachine), Vampire Counts (Fantasy)

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I was mainly thinking of using the HeavyD to grab objectives, as he's a scoring unit that can turbo 24". And if he can snipe one vehicle during a game he's earned his points back and then some. I do like Spyders, but they're pretty slow, and they don't count as Necrons.

Mahu, actually I'm planning on going to KublaCon in Northern California. I was calling my Necrons Necron-Omicons, not referring to a con with that name. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem,

I would consider dropping the Immortals for more Warriors. I saw at Adepticon the more successful Necrom Armies had you basic set-up but dropped fancier things for as many Warrior bodies as possible because between a Monolth and a Resurection Orb. there isn't many armies that can stop that and your denying Victory Points most of the time. And causing nothing but damage to anything on the table. Also, here is an annoying thing, pull your assault casualties in a way to get you out of combat every time, you don't want to get caught in a sweeping advance (nothing save you there).

If I switched out Immortals for Warriors, I'd only get like 4 more bodies. And for that, they'd go from toughness 5 to 4 (which has a big impact on WBB), and their guns aren't as good. I don't know if it's worth it.

Of course, that would mean a lot more points in troops which would be better for comp. I'll keep it in mind for when the comp rules come out, as that might make a big difference there.

Can't wait to see your cron army there. Plenty of time to paint a new army though man! Get the juices flowing and paint your heart out! You'll see me there with a grand total of 8 models...Godzilla nids baby.

Yeah, for all the reasons you mention, that'd be the last change I'd make. Immortals flat-out rock. In the type of list you have, you need ranged, mobile firepower, and Warriors (because their guns are rapid fire) aren't it. Immortals can veil around and unleash hell at 24", and you can afford to be a little careless with them re: orb range (assuming you stay out of h2h).
