Dreadknight w/Teleporter & Heavy Incinerator

Comes out to 1850.

First, the elephant. Yes, only one psycannon, and virtually no shooting.. GK's aren't that great in shooting, I believe it's better to try and get them into CC. Until I get into CC, I'd rather run/flatout. Something I want to try, has anyone else done this recently with all the shooty armies out there?

There is little scoring, which will be a problem. Maybe change out Purifiers for Strike Squads? Could use GS when needed to make scoring, but also want to us it for scouting.

There is no AA, and the only AT is CC.

My only rule, will not take any inquisition other than maybe Coteaz.

It was suggested to me in my list thread that you take interceptors, they can teleport like you dreadknights and get into CC faster that way as well.
Just a thought. I'm fairly new to GK's. Just passing along the advice that was given to me.

Into the fires of battle, unto the anvil of war!

Ok so just to point out your very very wrong when you say GK have bad shooting. They just have no shooting out of 24".

You can change the purifiers to GKSS to save a lot of points, with 6th ed their special rule is now sub par for their cost.

Next drop ALL weapons from the GKSS (considering you took my advice) because their stock weapons are just fine, the only upgrade they like is psybolt ammo for S5 storm bolters (in a unit of 10 men thats 2pts per model for +1S guns, its a steal).

The paladins need 3 more men, and 3 more psycannons and a brotherhood banner, this will make the draigo star brutal.

Lastly Scott the paladin isn't doing much other then offering first blood, or another kill point so he can be dropped or combined to dragios boys.

Noticed I made a mistake, only one hammer on each purifier squad.

My math shows that GK's will get outshot even by Guardsman. At say 20", if you a GKSS and then 200 points of Guardsman (40). They both take each other out in about 4.5 rounds. If the guardsman get within 12", and/or receive an order, the GKSS dies first. The GKSS keeps up for the most part with any combo until you get within 12" and/or add in an order.

You start comparing them with other more shooty units... and it just gets ugly.

However generally in CC they can hold their own against virtually everything.

I could change out the Purifiers for GKSS, which would give me the extra 2 Paladins. I guess the question is, are 2 Paladins worth the upgrade from GKSS to Purifier with better CC weapons.

Also, Scott will be in reserve and DS in wherever he's needed.

Purifiers are not troops unless you take crowe so yes the GKSS would be better.

Also did you take into consideration that 10 marines put out 20 S5 shots at BS4 (and Ap5) and will do more damage then 40 S3 BS3 Ap- shots.

True, objectives would be difficult.

If you have 44 guardsman against the 10 GKSS w/psybolt ammo at 20", the GKSS will kill all the guardsman in 3.96 rounds. The Guardsman will kill the GKSS in 4.09 rounds.

So yes, at this point the GKSS wins, barely.

Close the distance, and Guardsman kill the GKSS in 2.05 rounds. That or issue an order (60 more points, giving you 3 more GKSS's). Even with free Psybolt for those last 3 guys, it still takes 3.05 rounds.

Put Psycannons with the GKSS of 10 with psybolt, pushing the Guardsman to 48, and it's 3.6 to 3.75. Same ratio with or without psycannons. Close the distance, and the Guardsman kill the GKSS in 1.88 rounds.

Granted, if you're shooting at a Riptide, the GKSS will do more damage than the Guardsman, but the Riptide will kill the GKSS before they kill the riptide.

So it's not that their firepower is necessarily bad.. It's that most things will return more damage to them than they can dish out. They're better off in CC. Although a GKSS in CC with a riptide, or guardsman, will still loose. Purifiers however will win due to their extra damage output in CC.
