Ok so awhile back I tried casting using sculpey as the filler to hold my master while I poured the first half of my molds. Not only was the sculpey almost impossible to clean off of the master & Lego base afterward it had a very negative reaction to certain plastics including melting them. As such I'm looking for another brand of clay I can obtain in the US preferably at Wal-Mart, Michael's, or Joanne Fabrics as I live in an area where that's about all I have access to. Please anyone who has successfully used one regularly help me out here

And please no rants or lectures about legal & ethical issues of casting. I have not said I'm casting anyone else's work nor have I said I intend to sell anything either. I'm a law student so I'm very well versed on the laws. I just need help finding a suitable clay.

Thanks dakka!

The brand I use is Del Milano (think that is the name - the original package has long since been discarded). It is a sulfur free variety (though most probably are...not much in plasticene which would contain sulfur in significant amounts).

You can find them in most stores - you want a non-hardening modeling clay. Not polymer, not air hardening, not real clay of any kind. Crayola makes a version - there are dozens of them to be honest though (Prang, Chenille Kraft, Sculpey EZ Shape...). Go to the store and take a look in the craft section and possibly toys section near where they have Play-Doh (but not Play-Doh itself as that will air harden)

Haven't checked to confirm that they're sulfur-free (I would imagine, at least, that they are), but I know Michaels has a few cheap options. Skip the kids' section if you want to save a few bucks - near the polymer clays, you can find 1lb. packs for $3 (Craftsmart brand).

Hobby Lobby sell Plastalina which is sulfur free. Think it was like $4.00
Just get a natural color as the blue I have stains my hands.
