Just saw this auction on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/371089543863?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This auction is for a Metal OOP Mordian Iron Guard Commissar with Power Sword. This Commissar casting is one of the rarest versions around, get it while it lasts!
I've not seen it before, anyone know for certain if it's an actual GW model?
My guess is Shockforce or another 90s GW imitator but I'd like to know for certain.

I certainly don't recognise it as a GW figure (and I know a lot of that era). Unfortunately, the photos in that auction are all gakky.
It's also not on the collecting citadel miniatures wiki, where the Female Catachan who would be from the same era is seen.

Nor is it on the unreleased page...

Doesn't look quite right to me - no slotta tab and single headed aquila are the 2 stand out queries for me. Never seen it in any unreleased collections before.

I've seen this before, but also can't quite put my finger on where from exactly. IIRC it was some random Eastern European company that made him.

Definitely not GW. It's aesthetic is correct, but the details are wrong.

I have one, its a MegaMinis figure.
Does not seem to be on their list of figs sold to other companies, so molds and rights are probably still for sale from Megaminis.

If it was Megaminis then it was probably originally Shockforce/Demonblade. IIRC they were so close to GW designs they actually got sued.
Thanks Tim!

I'd guess the aesthetic is based off the gw design (which in turn is based off historical design) but without the imperial details I don't think it's GW

Looks like you are right: Demonblade fig. Here is the Megaminis release announcement with the listing: DEAL-1026 Commandant swag $4.00.

So basically it was available in the 90s, then for 6 months last year before Megaminis shut down. So the seller is right that it's rare, but ignorant/probably lying about it being GW.
Seeing that he has 3 or 4 of them up for sale now I'd go with lying.

Just wanted to confirm what folks were saying about it being a Demonblade Games figure. I believe it was sculpted by Bobby Jackson, but I don't know exactly. The seller is definitely trying to scam IMHO. He has listed it using GW names, without using the words GW or Citadel. It's a clever way to both try and avoid detection and give himself an out if caught.
In the mid 90's Demonblade games acquired a line of miniatures from Grenadier called "K-Force" that included a variety of GW'ish lines. They then had Bobby Jackson sculpt additional figs for the line and used them in their "Shockforce" game. They called the not- IG figs "Megacorp". This guy was a special character. Captain Jack something or other, if I recall. There was also a line of not-Orks, but those were so close to GW designs that they ceased production. The Trooper figures continued though.
Oddly, he's really freaking tall. He towers over GW and other 28mm figs. Here's mine next to a VOR neo-soviet, who is just about the same size as a GW IG trooper.
Still, it's a neat sculpt, so when I sold all my Shockforce stuff, I kept him.

Don't bid. Besides the obvious not wanting to support a scammer, remind yourself that he sold for less than 4 dollars about 6 months ago.

And someone will probably pick up the mould, and then he'll be less than 4 bucks six months from now.

Yeah, most of these figs will find new homes. Interestingly though, all the new owners of Mega Minis molds that I have seen have marked up the price (in some cases by quite a bit). Though nothing as drastic as up to $24 for a single fig. There are quite a few figs that I wish I'd purchased from Mega when I had the chance.
I've reported one of the listings and sent a message to the seller.

Yeah. I recently found out about their range of cats. Naturally, this was after they closed down and their sculpts were scattered to the four winds, so chances are I just won't bother trying to chase them down from a half-dozen different places with higher prices plus a half-dozen sets of postage...

Seller never responded to my question and message informing him of the origins of the miniature so I've reported all 4 of the listings.
I realize that Ebay has an element of buyer beware, but I'd hate to be the person that buys this thinking they've got a rare miniature and come to find out that they have a $5 shockforce fig.
Despite his 100% positive feedback, it's pretty clear that "cpt_communism" is not an honest seller.
