I really dig walkers, and I feel like they are not really properly represented on the table top in CC. A dreadnought only swinging twice, when in lore they seem to be CC machines (literally )
So I was playing around with the idea of giving walkers a toned down variation of stomp.
Standard walkers (dreadnoughts, sentinels and whatnot) will have Stomp. Just like normal stomp, you place it and roll a dice, 1 is nothing 2-5 is normal, 6 is special. It is a single stomp attack, small blast, that is resolved at half base strength (Rounding down? usually 3) and AP5. Just like the big boy stomp but worse. On a 6, it is base strength and AP3.
I also think a smaller version of the Multi Legged Terror rule could be implemented for walkers with too many limbs, mainly soul grinders and defilers. Soul grinders have 6 legs and 2 arms. They would have stomp(2)
Due to their massive size, Monstrous creatures and other walkers are immune to stomp.
Mainly this is because I feel that a walker, in any case, shouldn't have issue just walking through infantry. Even a sentinel should be able to walk through/step on terminators.
Any thoughts?

Well, in my mind, the dreadnought can't get it's stubby legs high enough, or gain enough momentum to get stomp attacks, and the other walkers, like sentinels, the secondthey try they would topple. It'd a good idea, but it doesnt seem to work just because of how the units are modeled

Maybe just give it to the big nasty walkers, where it makes a bit more sense. Defilers, Soul grinders, Triarch stalkers, some of the Ork walkers?
Could also represent something like a dreadnought spinning on its torso.

I feel like it would be better represented by giving them the Rampage special rule. Some of the walkers don't feel particularly "stompy", but you could certainly see them throwing their weight around in a fight (like the Dreadnought spinning in Dawn of War). They feel like they should be good against hordes.

They aren't quite good at anything else atm, so that would not really make them over powered.

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature. |

Greater Brass Scorpions are no larger than your standard Defiler / Soul Grinder (Still damn gigantic) but they manage to get Stomp (Multi-legged-Terror D3+3 Stomps)

Yeah, the greater brass scorpion is almost as big, if not bigger than a lord of skulls. Much larger than a soul grinder. IF the ginder if on tippy toes, it might reach the top of the scorpions tail, but it is still not as long as the scorpion.
This pic is a pretty good one to show off the size of the scorpion

It is because the scorpion, and titans are so big that they get stomp, but with the knight being much smaller than quite a bit of models with stomp, it doesn't seem too far fetched that a smaller version of stomp be added to walkers. Some walkers would just be better, like soul grinders and defilers, where sentinels would have a little baby stomp.

I think this could work if stomp was changed so it wasn't always 3 stomps.
maybe give models stomp(x) where x is the number of stomps.
Models like the reaver/scorpion/revanent/stompa would get stomp(3) other models like knight / gorkanauts might get stomp(2) and models like triarch / soulgrinder / defiler would get stomp(1), + any stomps they get from special rules which give more stomps.
there would probably need to be some slight points adjustments to various models, mostly +, in the case of imperial knights a - in cost.
If dreadnaughts aren't getting stomp I cant really see sentinels getting a stomp attack.

I agree about the number of stomps, the example was generating stomps based on number of attacks. Having a stomp value would probably just be easier though.
I would rather have a lesser stomp table for standard walkers. I don't really feel that a soul grinder should be able to auto remove models with the current stomp. They would get stomp 2 or 3, while sentinels would have stomp 1, gorkanoughts would get 2 or 3 as well.

I wouldn't mind Walkers/MCs stomping like they do in Fantasy. Just rename the super heavy/GC one to Thunderstomp and we're good to go.

I wouldn't mind Stomp on walkers and MCs so long as it didn't affect other MCs and Walkers. Maybe give Walkers and MCs something simple like bonus attacks against each other?
Otherwise same rules as Stomp is right now against all other targets, like infantry. Squish!

In Fantasy things with Stomp can't be stomped. They can be Thunderstomped though (models with Thunderstomp also can't be stomped or Thunderstomped). That pretty much clears that issue up. I don't know about giving them bonus attacks against each other though. It doesn't really feel needed.

I like that notion. Basically they can get throwmped by things bigger than themselves (IE walkers cant stomp walkers, but a Gargantuan can Thunderstomp / blitz him, just not anther Gargant/ SH)

What about giving Walkers a variant of Hammer of Wrath (a la Chariots)? For instance, describe it as "Hammer of Wrath X"; with the Walker "dealing X extra, unmodified Srength 6 hits against the model at Initiative 10"?So for instance, Sentinels deal 1 extra hit while Dreadnaughts deal 2?
Alternatively, just fix it based on the unit's base number of attacks.
I thnk the reason run-of-the-mill Walkers lack Stomp is simply to keep things running smoothly as people often field several of them - sometimes even in groups - that might make things complicated to resolve. Keep things simple, basically.

Fantasy's stomp isn't that hard to resolve last I recall: it's bonus attacks at the end of the combat, before resolution. Roll a die, get bonus attacks, kill things. Easy.

Yerp. Sounds pretty straightforward to me, if that's the case.
