I used to play this all the time on my old computer while I lived with my mom, but since I have moved away and my stepdad giving me a backup of the CD with the code I tried to install it and I get to installing everything and what not and I open up the application and it tells me that I have the wrong disc inserted.. now I know I do but is there a way to go past it and not buy this game.

Could you please specify what game you are trying to play?

It's hard to help you when we don't know what game to help you with

I might not work with windows 7. I depends on weather you've got the 32 bit or 64 bit version. If you're using a older version of windows I don't know. It should work on XP and I don't really know much about Vista.
Being that it's disc problem you should check what condition the disc is in. If it's all scratched up then it won't work properly.

Soulstorm should work just fine as a standalone install, it does not, iirc, require an install of the original DoW to run.

Are you using the default installation or are you installing it to a sub-drive (like having your OS on the C drive and the E drive being application storage, for example). What OS are you attempting to install it on? (a 64bit OS should be more than capable of running a 32bit application).

The error message you're getting seems to suggest that it's looking for a different disc than what's installed. Check the game's CFG (should either be in the install directory or in your Documents folder, possibly under Soulstorm, or maybe Relic Entertainment or possibly THC, Im not at a computer that has it installed to verify.) In that file, it may have a line of code that will mention something about DRM or a security code or security check, or words to that effect. What you're looking for is where it is telling the application to check for the disc. If it says, for example, D:\ and your CD drive is H:\, then that could be a problem.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
