Here's a question for the Dakka Community. If the Hive Tyrant had a 20 point upgrade that said "shooting attacks made by the Hive Tyrant are twin linked" would you take it? If so, how would you arm your tyrant? Just a fun little question really! And Go!

The most effective weapon available to hive tyrants is already twin linked. As the other options available are far inferior to devourers its really a moot point. If you were for some reason desperate for say a venom cannon or barbed strangler the crone is a far cheaper platform to take than to waste the points. On a tyrant.

That is true, But I was wondering, if that would persuade you to change it, also twin links the possible warp blast, along with thorax and of course your biocannons

for 20pts, for twin-linked weapons, If it included melee weapons, yeah. Though I would rather have durability.

What if I said you could give him a 2+ save for 40 Points? Or a 5++ for 30 Points?

Really the hive tyrant just needs 1 more wound for no point increase.

And for a non-winged version to get acess to 2+ armor.

If I were to make any changes to the Hive Tyrant it would be the following

1) Can purchase wings (35) or Armoured Shell (2+ save, 25)
2) Venom Cannon becomes Assault 3
3) Tyrant Guard joined by a Hive Tyrant gain FNP and use the Tyrant's Weapon Skill

This makes walking Tyrants a lot more resilient, makes Tyrant Guard more attractive (using the Tyrant's WS is appropriate because they are blind and controlled like puppets) and makes the iconic Venom Cannon into a medium-quality anti-tank weapon again.

I am going to agree here.

Twin Linked is lame. A 5th wound makes sense, so many of the TMCs now have 6ws anyways.

Access to the 2+ is a must, but should exclude wings.

Xyptc really does it well.

If anything a 3++ for 35pts would be cool too.

I'd like wings to cost more and the barebones HT less.

Say 135pts and 65pts for wings.

Then it's only 185pts for 6 wounds. But i like Guard suggestions.
