Hello, Im working on a Tau suit and want to consider some freehand work on it, but besides the symbols on something like a Tau decal sheet, what would not be out of place for them lore wise? I certainly dont see them using dragons or skulls or half naked pinup Tau girls, so would anything fit in with Tau lore besides the standard symbols you always see?

Id marks..numerals..unit mottos..kill marks...campaign marks, any of these could be usable or fluffy depending on your take on the Tau..but being as a person that has done a reptile nose art..and a tau pinup girl on a barracuda..i may not be the one to answer.

Most of this would be in Tau so would be lost on 99% of people that look at it..but would still lend a element of cohesiveness to a over all army paint scheme.

hmmm, not really sorry, they're not very "i'm awesome check out how many kills i've got". Tau just get the job done in the cheapest way possible and get on with it, no frills.

If they did it for a real practical reason that made them more effective for whatever reason they might.

Sorry, I couldn't be more help.

Tau do, however, celebrate victories and campaigns (the traditional method is via ornaments put in the tau's braided hair) so there may be something like that. Squad markings are also not out of the question.

Perhaps not technically a Marine Chapter anymore, but the Flame Falcons would be pretty creepy to fight.
