Called by the Elder Elemental Eye to serve, four corrupt prophets have risen from the depths of anonymity to claim mighty weapons with direct links to the power of the elemental princes. Each of these prophets has assembled a cadre of cultists and creatures to serve them in the construction of four elemental temples of lethal design. It is up to adventurers from heroic factions such as the Emerald Enclave and the Order of the Gauntlet to discover where the true power of each prophet lay, and dismantle it before it comes boiling up to obliterate the Realms.
And it will also be the next D&D Board Game:
In the Temple of Elemental Evil board game, you play as a heroic adventurer. With amazing abilities, spells and magic weapons, you must explore the dungeons beneath the Sword Coast where you will fight monsters, overcome hazards and find treasure. Are you ready for adventure?

The Temple of Elemental Evil board game features multiple scenarios, challenging quests and cooperative game play designed for 1-5 players. The contents can also be combined with other D&D Adventure System Cooperative play board games, including The Legend of Drizzt and Castle Ravenloft.

Oh and new minis:

Collect all 44 figures from Elemental Evil, the newest set of randomly sorted monsters and heroes in our exciting new line of D&D miniatures, Icons of the Realms.

Bring the world of the Forgotten Realms to life with these new miniatures from the Elemental Evil storyline. Wage war against prophets, monsters and elemental creatures to thwart their devious plans to wreak massive amounts of havoc upon the Material Plane!

I'll be interested to getting a better look at some of this.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Oh, cool! I am currently running Monty Cook's Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil in my Open Table game, and the players are just getting hooked into it. It's great fun, and I have to say the elemental schema does help them to conceptualise the baddies and approach things in an interesting way.

I am excited to get this, and I think I will definitely get the board game.

Though I feel like a total faker because I never played the original

It is really worth playing Da Boss! I highly recommend getting Village of Hommlet and just using it as your default base of operations.

I probably will, but it's a project for a few years down the line when the memory of the current game has faded a little. They'll have Elemental Evil fatigue otherwise!

I might buy the 1st ed books anyhow for a look through.

The good thing about Hommlet is you can drop it anywhere and it doesn't need to lead to the Temple.
