I picked this game up yesterday and so far I am loving it. I came in expecting to test bugs and gameplay, but I have yet to run into anything abnormal.
Killing zombies is so satisfying. Though I have noticed occasionally a zombie will just stand still. Great game overall if you enjoy these sorts of games. I made a few friends this morning and ran into only friendly players wanting to tag along.
I really like multiplayer open-world games though so I am biased. Defiantly going to be playing this a lot more.
"While a single mass reactive bolter shell from a Space Marine can stop a single foe in their tracks, the hail of a million lasguns can halt the advance of an entire army"
Played for a bit; got set up somewhat decently before being mauled to death by a bear. The crafting/discovery is solid, the world is fairly interesting. Of course the starting area was looted down to almost nothing but once I branched out I was good.
I was seriously interested in this when I saw it on steam the other day, did some research. There is some serious ill-will directed towards this game, enough to get it removed from steam and refunded to customers. I guess because its back on steam, those issues have been worked out?

Well, I don't know if it was removed from steam, but they did offer crate drops of guns as a paid thing after claiming there would be no paid weapons buys. They offered money back, and they said about .5% of people took them up on it.
I don't see how this is worse than Planetside 2 or Gold Ammo for WoT.
It won't really ruin anything for me as I plan to play mostly co-operative.
How far is this game along in terms of development, is it still in Alpha?
Got my fingers burnt by The Dead Linger, and don't really want to put money into any more sandbox zombie games until one comes along that can provide something of a complete experience.
It's still in Alpha. I had fun for a bit, but there is a lot of downtime in between fun moments; loot is wonky right now and I may hold off for a bit to let them work on it more.
Pretty funny I checked here being someone was talking about it on Everquest I going to wait and see how this game developes before I give it a try

So I've been on the fence with this game for a few days, but even after watching numerous streams of H1Z1 it just looks like another bland 'KOS' survival deathmatch game similar to DayZ, WarZ, Rust and Nether. For people who have played the game, what new stuff does H1Z1 actually add to this overcrowded genre?
Although I have no plans to buy it myself, it is entertaining to watch people play. And to watch people freak out. "AAGH, IT'S PAY TO WIN! THE WORLD IS ENDING! SOMETHING COMPLETELY NORMAL HAPPENED!"

They messed with the loot spawns some, you can actually find things now. Seems like there are more zombies too; although that could just be fewer people on to kill them or something.
