I run something fairly similar, but I use a Hunter on the ATGM (after Dead Eye, Temporal Acceleration, and Power Booster it's actually nightmarishly powerful) and I run the Stormclad on Jakes and a Lancer for Haley (she likes having an arc node).
WMH is usually won by skill rather than having a superior list; Cygnar in general and Haley in particular aren't exactly easy to start out with. How much have you played this and have you spent much time on smaller games?

Something things I would consider are
Dropping the Defender and then taking the Hunter off Jnr and give it to the ATGM.
Using the points invest in Thorn to get some offense out of Time Bomb, Telekinesis and Domination.
Personally I would prefer the Stormblade Capt over Rhupert in the list.

I've been playing about three months now.
Reason the hunter is with the journeyman is because to make use of the spare focus each turn. also I only use the gun mage abilties with the hunter on first turn.
I've used the stormblade captain, was ok, though I prefer rhupert carvolo.

You can't use Rune Shots if the Hunter is in the Journeyman's battlegroup, he has to be marshalled to the ATGM.

I know, what I mean is when I had the hunter with the atgm i rarely used rune shot. Now the hunter is with the journeyman I can do temporal aacceleration and boost both damage rolls.
The defender goes with the atgm and uses deadeye with crtical brutal damage. I'll boost to hit with strangewayes.

Why wouldn't you use the Rune Shots? What do you lose by putting Crit Brutal on the Hunter? With TA, Dead Eye, one damage boost from the 'Jack Marshal and another from the Focus Strangeways gives it your Hunter is hitting DEF 17 on average rolls (if you move for a 20" threat range) with something like a 40% chance of critting for four damage dice on the AP shot. The Journeyman gives you one more Focus for one 4d6 to hit (because you're already boosting both damage rolls) at the expense of Crit Brutal, it's strictly worse.

That's exactly what I do with the defender now.

The Hunter's less expensive and comes with AD; the crossover point on damage output is ARM 18. If you're fighting a Def-over-ARM enemy or one where you need to snipe out small-based models the Defender does more, but against most big models the Hunter is the better choice.

I've found it depends what I'm shooting at. In some games there hasn't been a lot of jacks or big based models, so the hunter has limited effectiveness. I've found with the defender that it can do armour (about the same as a hunter) while taking out solos and warcasters. With a long range and use of snipe, the defender can stay still for the aiming bonus and be rat 8. Mostly I tend to use deadeye on it with critical brutal damage and use the jack marshal and strangewayes to boost to hit and damage rolls; this usually gives 4d6 damage dice with ps15 gun
