Howdy all, been lurking for a bit and loving what I'm seeing. After having Warhammer in the periphery of my D&D/Paranoia/Cyberpunk playing self for years, I finally decided to take the plunge and see what it's all about. I'm a fantasy buff and jumped in with the Sakven (love my rats!) earlier this month when I consequently needed some were rat figures for my D&D game. My first batch of Clanrats was just finished up this past Sunday and thrown myself into my next project of putting together a Doomwheel and a Grey Seer.

I initially didn't think that 40K would grab me, but after reading the lore it's pulled me in. What I'm seeing is heavy metal fantasy in SPACE with chainswords...which is awesome. The Tau caught my attention first with the clean look (a break from grungy Skaven), but after swimming through the huge amount of lore, I was a bit surprised to find myself wanting to do some Space Marines too. I've really fallen for the lore and look for the Celestial Lions and I really want to try painting up one of the chapters with a quartered scheme like the Howling Griffons or Dark Sons.

Right now I'm just grabbing things that look interesting and will pick up the main rule book soon (head first right?) for fantasy and 40K. The painting is the main interest at this moment in time, but my sister (she's fallen for the look/lore of the Adepta Sororitas)and I are aiming to make a couple of little armies so we can have friends over for fun games of Beerhammer and learning the rules all together.

Look forward to learning more from the massive amount of experience here and getting my hands dirty in the paint of many more models.

Congrats on starting your first Skaven! Skaven is a good choice. 40k does have some great fluff. The game is still good but in many people's eyes has declined in recent editions.

Anyway, welcome to Dakka!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
