I was reading that they had terrible luck, were thrown into the jaws of un-winnable scenarios and pretty much make terrible decisions everywhere they go. Then I thought, "OH! Well that sounds exactly like me!" So I thought about painting up some for a fun (too me) army.

In any case though, reading their fluff, the wikia seems to say they may have actually beaten the Black Rage in some way and that the Blood Angels are desperately seeking to make contact with them to learn more, but they've since disappeared.

In terms of gameplay though, that would mean I get no Death Company, in addition to using BA rules, so not actually getting the more beneficial units in the normal C:SM though right?

I assume I could still get Sangiunary Guard and furious charge rules, but without Death Company to use, would the effort even really be worth it at all? I mean that's sort of a big thing to give up. Thoughts?

Recently, I believe the Badab War books by Forge World, the Lammenters have been stated to have the Black Rage back.

Is that one of the Forge World Armour books, or like a novel? I think if they "do" get Death Company, then I may paint some up, I just need to do some looking around to make sure.

I'm looking at their website, but there seem to be a ton of Badab books. I'm not really sure where to start looking.

Yes. The Lamenters use a blood angels army rules, but they have a unique character available - Malakim Phoros, their chapter master (who's quite badass), who's somewhere between a marine captain and chaplain in effect....

I don't recall if it was book one or two.

Regardless, its your army and you can included Death Company if you want. Just fluff them as guys who have witnessed their impending doom in a vision and as such charge recklessly into battle to earn as much glory as they can before their deaths.

These are really cool. Are they free updates? I'm kinda new to ForgeWorld in general so I'm only just learning about alot of this.

Appreciate it. That's probably what I'll end up doing, but if it says they still have The Rage officially somewhere, then that makes it even better. I really do like the idea of playing the Marines with terribly bad luck.

Yes. It can take years for Forge World to get round to doing update pdfs, but when they do they usually go above and beyond the call of duty (case in point, the Chapter Tactics pdf includes two chapters mentioned in Imperial Armour books, but had never actually been given rules).

Lamenters are in the the first book (the first half of the war is covered in the first book, along with half the chapters the rest are in the second).

If you pick up the books be sure to get the reduced bundle, it costs less than buying either book separately, but bear in mind the rules are obsolete and they clearing out stock because they'll likely be reissuing a replacement volume this year.

But yes, far fewer Lamenters fall to the black rage than do Blood Angels, but it still happens. In the Deathwatch RPG the descent into the Black Rage comes in multiple stages, Blood Angels automatically progress to the next stage when the conditions are met, Lamenters get a save roll to avoid each stage - but when if fail they become subject to all of the previous stages they had avoided.
