I've been convinced into running some introduction games for Deadzone on Saturday for International TableTop Day at a local pub.

I know there's a demo game (3 enforcers V 5 plague), but it's a bit too, well, demo-ey...
So, this is my plan. In the Nexus Psi campaign book, you have Intel Run. It's a 50 point game and basically, there's an intel item hidden in one of the crates on the center line, you have to find it and take it off the board through your deployment zone (or, kill all your opponents).
So, it seems to be a pretty good illustration of the gameplay and should be in depth enough but without getting into hidden mission craziness.

The forces I'm thinking to set up would be:
Enforcer Sergeant
Enforcer Sniper
Enforcer
Enforcer Defender (Or normal enforcer + an AP round for sniper, depends on painting...)

Against:

Plague Stage 1A
Plague Stage 3D
Plague Stage 3A HMG
Plague Stage 3A (x3)

One of the good things about this setup is that both forces match their command skill, so less initiative worries. You also have a good mix of unit types too, so it should work quite well...

What are everyone thoughts?

Seems decent, and good on you for trying to get more interest in DZ!

In terms of the games themselves, perhaps leave out Battle Cards and Command Actions, at least at first. Get the basics down first and then add in those elements of resource management.

Yeah, leaving out Command Actions is a good shout, I think.

Battle cards though, I think they're a pretty, well, not unique, but standout element of the game to have and it can be easy enough to do "plague draw 3, Enforcers draw 2".

But yeah, hopefully it'll look impressive enough to drum up some interest. However... It means that I should be doing some painting.

Where are you based, Compel? I'd be all over getting a demo or two. Only played once and found it MEH.

I know so many people love the game, and I should try it again as I already have the starter set AND Marauders and Rebs...

Seems like a good plan though my concern for a demo game with a stage 1 is how slow it is without using command rules. I dunno if it will be too slow to get stuck in for several turns if that will be kinda off-putting for such a low level game?

Yeah, I kinda agree. - I suppose I'll play it by ear depending on who I'm demoing too and their relative confidence / experience of the kind of games.

There's a few 'good' reasons to include the Stage 1 though. - It is basically the 'face' of Deadzone and, well, I don't have a Stage 3 General painted.

Plus, I guess he will get to act a bit as a quarterback (not that I know sportsball terms much ), in covering any Plague models running back to deployment with the item.

Oh, and if you're looking for a tabletop Day even, have a look at: http://www.tabletopday.com/find-event
