So maybe I'm several years behind the curve, but I've recently got Zombicide. My friends and I were fine with the tutorial mission, but then we tried mission 7 - Grindhouse - which is described as easy.... Well, we were slaughtered - several times. So, the question is, are we doing something wrong, or is this mission not as 'easy' as described, or is Zombicide actually one of the hardest games ever written? I've done some internetting, and it seems that this mission was upped in difficulty for retail from the original, by adding a walker into every room. As a question - has this change thrown the balance out completely? With every room containing at least one walker, and potentially several, I see no way for the starting team to get any kind of weapons or upgrades in time before being swamped by the tide of zombies, as a pan doesn't really cut it. Would like to get some thoughts, as we had high hopes for this game, but if we can't even manage the easy missions, no way will we bother with anything harder. (BTW - team of 4 players.)

Well, the dice can always screw you up. But Zombicide isn't an easy game.

Anyway, the real key to winning zombicide is team work. Maybe have a player lure some zombies out of the way so the others can search the room.

Or have everyone try to pile on the one zombie in the room together. Someone's gotta roll a 6.

Hmm.. perhaps - but we were all working as a team, and still getting nowhere -I Guess my question boils down to - do you need a good slice of luck to even stand a chance on an Easy mission? That doesn't tend to fit my definition of 'easy'.

One of the biggest things new players seem to struggle with in my experience is managing closed rooms and managing experience.

It's VERY important to open those closed rooms when you're in the blue. Coincidentally, this also makes it very important to ensure everyone is leveling up fairly evenly through the first two experience bands.

I don't think you need a huge slice of luck, but rather need to carefully manage your experience and teamwork over the course of the first 5 rounds or so.

All it takes is a rogue Wanda getting four spaces ahead of everyone to feth a game over.

Post a session report on BoardGameGeek -- with pictures -- and you should get some feedback of what went wrong.

You can also ask for the BGG opinions of which missions to play. Not everyone agreed with the designers which missions were easiest. Mission 2 is particularly difficult.
