Subject: Tau 40k fluff plausible?

I don't know if this should go in here or 40k background, so if its the wrong forum i apologise.
Here is the fluff:
The cadre is the 59th static defence cadre, tasked with protecting recently converted imperial worlds. Occasionally also fend off orks and tyranids. Several Different septs contribute to this cadre, but the majority are from Bork'an. They are out of communication with the main tau forces and it's rumoured that they have gone renegade, and have assimilated the manta assigned to them into their cause. They also have a small fighter wing, rumoured again to have being assimilated into the commanding officers (shas'o Fir'Dras) cause.
How is it?

Unlikely. What is making them renegade? There's only been one known Tau to go full renegade and that was one of their greatest commanders ever. What makes some nameless static defence cadre on that level?

They want to escape from the constant attacks because of the high casualty rate and useless sacrifice

But that doesn't make any sense for the Tau to even be in a situation like that in the first place. The Tau do not do static defenses and high casualties. If there was a post that was getting a lot of men killed, they'd either sweep the attackers out, or pull out. The Tau do not pour men into meatgrinders.

well maybe they are running away not because they have lost sight of the greater good, but because they fought deamons and are mad that the ethereals arent telling the rest of the tau the truth. or maybe they felt betrayed after some tau from the sept t'au were sent to help them but ran away and the result was them taking high casualtys. so that they still believe in the greater good but dont belive the tau empire folows the greater good as they should.

Champ, this is a universe where the laws of physics don't even have to apply. Not even time.
If you want a Renegade tau force, do it man.
That said, it is unusual, but not to the point of being ridiculous (read: blood angels alongside necrons)
It might be more effective to detail WHY someone goes renegade. Political reasons? Disobeying orders? Personal gain? HOW did they go renegade - did they fire on their own? Run? Is it a misunderstanding? How has going renegade changed the force - do they look more ragtag? Poorly supplied? More Auxiliaries? Also common in 40k - venture to guess a possible outcome of their actions. There is a sense of inevitability in this universe, and it is usually a poor outcome for EVERYONE.
Have fun!

Maybe they got cut off from the Tau empire somehow (warpstorm?) assumed they'd been abandoned by their beloved ethereal's and now feel they have to fend for themselves.
Also i've never heard of and mixed sept cadre'. If they have a manta there's probably more than one cadre. Fighters would probably be part of a separate air caste cadre.

So something like this: After been abandoned by etgereals and stranded in a warp storm, Shas'o Fir'dras took command of the remaining tau forces after the tyranid invasion and set off into the ultima segmenum for a colony. I will make it more decent tomorrow

the tau dont travel using warp so maybe after being abandoned when they were attacked by deamons...
OOH WAIT
you could have it that after the deamons attack the ethereals start executing the tau because the tau empire keeps chaos a secret. then the tau ran away and started hunting down ethereals
