I'm curious to hear from people running or playing with the new big adventure tomes from Wizards and their partners. Has anyone been working through the Tyranny of Dragons or Elemental Evil storylines? I'm nearly finished reading through Princes, and I might run it soon, so I'm like to hear other opinions. I also grabbed the second Tyranny book cheap from Amazon, with every intention of plundering it ruthlessly for high level dungeons. The Tyranny storyline got a lot of grief, for being quite railroady and plot heavy, but I hear that groups who made it to the end loved the epic storyline and sensation of being vitally important.

My group is paying through what I assume is the DM's heavily altered version of the Tyranny of Dragons books.
I'm enjoying it. It's a bit weird as I totally understand why someone online stated that it felt like they took a Dragonlance storyline and shoved it into the Forgotten Realms in many ways.
I think the key is to be responsive to your payers and don't be afraid to edit it. My DM avoids some random encounters and removed those as well as a long 'travel' adventure that was kind of a not-fun side thing, but we're doing the core of it. Still only halfway through the second book, though.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

We finished a alternate version of the Tyranny of Dragons campaign at the beginning of the summer that lasted about six months.
Parts might have been railroad-y, but thanks to our GM we had a lot of interesting side plots going, like how out wizard ended up unknowingly selling his soul to Baphomet, and how the group took a trip to a frozen dwarf city in the north and found a massive dwarf Jaeger stuck in the ice.

We just started the Tyranny of Dragons one. I can't really say much about the feel as we are barely into it.

I have read them all but they don't seem interesting enough to run. Princes of the Apocalypse is the best of them IMO. But I am not sure why they didn't simply update and reprint Temple of Elemental Evil, it is much better.

My old groups did City of the Spider Queen and Red Hand of Doom for d&d 3/3.5 (one adventure for each group.. one I played in and the other I ran). I'd say both were very good adventures albeit very lengthy (took about a year for each with a game every week to two weeks).

The WotC employee responsible for updating/translating the modules to 5e is/was stuck on Grand Jury duty for a lengthy time. WotC decided to wait for that person rather than assign the task to someone else or sub-contract out the work.

edit: browser freaked out.
I've always written my own sessions from scratch, but have always wanted to try out these adventures. From what I hear they're all really good. If I were to go through one I would definitely do Rage of Demons. It just sounds more interesting to me than the rehashed themes of dragons and elemental cults.

Haven't run any of them, but I'll likely loot from them when I get my planned 5e game off the ground in a good few months. The only thing I've run from Wizards for 5e was the starter set adventure, which I thought did a very good job of introducing the game. Quite interested in Princes of the Apocalypse, but don't want to burn my poor players out on Temple of Elemental Evil stuff when the Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil makes up a big chunk of the material for my current (sprawling) Pathfinder campaign. Edit to add: A bit of the risk for WotC of always returning to the same well for adventures, I reckon.
