*disclaimer*

If you know me, you understand that I love Thousand Sons.. so I die a little inside every time I hear chaos rumors because I know they might not come true. These, however, I found today on B&C and I thought that they are worth a thread. Been watching these two individuals for a while on the forum and they have said in other places that they were going to dig for info almost a month ago. It seems that they did just that, and that's one heck of a claim......... Like I said, it's worth a thread I believe. Apply salt but feel free to discuss the potential of these rumors. Let's not get this thread locked with wishlisting.

Rumors begin below the line.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SlavetoDarkness:

"Aahhhhh after I have done a bit of digging with a few people I have found out a few things...
Some I cant say until I hear back from someone else (I dont want to look like a complete muppet) but I can say one thing, we ARE getting a dex, but not sure if its gonna be before or after Tau at the moment. But its done, not heard anything about new minis though (but then again I didnt ask). The person I am waiting to hear back from I trust 100% and its not the local GW manager.
Just be patient guys, and if the other things I am waiting on turn out to be legit then you get to be happy smug bastards :tu:"

Don't mind saying who my source is, I have a cousin who is an ex GW sculptor who still talks to people at the design studio, I'm not naming names though as I don't wanna cause any grief for people involved, and I'm not gonna push for info on every race, I only asked about Chaos because that's all I am interested in, couldn't care less about anything else tongue.png

If one of the things I am waiting to hear back on turns out to be true then I will be happy, though it's something I have hinted at a few times now and again for a few months now, though it was something that GW were thinking of doing, if they are then I will spill the beans.

TheHairSorcerer20:

"Awesome. So stock has been switched out today. Interesting look. Oh and we are getting a chaos marine dex soon.. Very soon indeed. AND we may or may not be getting a sorcerer conclave formation I thought Tigerlily was op.. Nothing better than throwing out 3 powers a turn at +1 strength for every sorcerer in the formation.. *Cough* "

I wish I could have gotten you pictures but it kinda violates the IP.. And I'd have lost quite a lot of money. Sorry.. It's coming though. ITS FINALLY COMING!!

We be waiting till the end of the sigmar zerg rush. Then you will have your answer

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks.

No, not all.

Allegedly.

I'm not here to debate whether or not it is credible.. I'm here because it is a strong claim from two people and I used my judgement to deem that is worth listing it as a new rumor

The last Chaos Codex was better than the previous one only on the virtue that is wasn't the previous one.

Well this will be their second chance to do with Chaos what FW is doing with the Traitor Legions and what GW themselves have done with the Chapters.

"But the Legions broke up after the Heresy! WAAAAAAH!!!"

Yes, the Legions, which numbered in the 10's of thousands, broke up after the heresy. If groups of 1000 Marines can get special rules, then a tiny splinter of the Word Bearers, who were the second largest Legion, so could have splinters that number in the thousands, can get their own rules.

The Word Bearers were like 200,000 during the Heresy, and they are not entirely disorganised.

I haven't forgotten anything. The 3.5 Codex is the best Chaos Codex they've ever released. It was what the Chaos Codex should be (barring obvious balance issues which some people seem to think is reason enough to dismiss it), and what FW are doing with the Legions now might as well be the template for future Chaos releases. All Codex releases actually.

But, I know that won't happen, so the Chaos version of Chapter Tactics will do.

My theory is that GW dont want to map out the chaos legions as long as the BL horus heresy series is doing a nice job with inventing the background in an ongoing process.

The crimsome slaughter book had rules that fit uncannily with a wordbearer theme, even the colours were basicly the same. Yet they chose to do something brand new for the fluff.

Again with daemon kin, they chose to exclude any mention of earlier khorne legions or heroes in favor of forging a brand new narrative.

It might just be that GW sees it as too much for one book (especially when they can sell us several more).

Daemons, vanilla Chaos marines, cultists, legions, and god-specific units!

GW could easily split it into 8 books/dataslates! Or more!

Yet somehow they never do...

I'd be all over a well-done Codex Chaos Cultists.

It seems Chaos is missing several key plastic kits:
Plague Marines
1000 Sons
Noise Marines
Havoks
Multi-part cultists
Obliterators

Any chance we might get some of them this time?

God no. We thought Obliterators were getting redone last time, when all that happened was we got these monstrosities.
Spoiler:

The others will get plastic kits when GW releases the third version of the plastic devastators. (Or fourth. I can't remember how many we've already had.)

I'd be up for Legion rules like FW's HH books. Even warband "tactics" or some such.

"The parent Legion for my Scions of Hate and Loathing War Band were the World Eaters so I get to take chain axes for free and gain Adamantium Will. I'm not allowed Sorcerors in my primary detachment, though."

Or some such. Two pages, 3 bullet points for each of the original 8 bad-guy legions. Done.

But I'm wishlisting in a News and Rumors thread, which is wrong. I really do feel bad about it.

We also are in desperate need of re-cuts on our basic CSM kit and the completely useless Terminator kit to boot, while it would be nice to have the Bikes redone to add in proper command and special weapon options...
Honestly, our model line is easily the most fugly & lacking in options of any kind out of all the 'in-store' armies available.

All I can say is, if Tau are getting 3-4 weeks including a redone basic Troops kit (with 'oodles of new options), plus new Battlesuits and other toys, then we damn well better be getting at least 4-5 kits of our own when it's finally our turn!
Otherwise, if all we get is a stupid codex + clampack BS, then it'll prove that GW doesn't give a rat's fart about Chaos Marines.

If it's again one Codex for: 1) god-specific legions, 2) Undivided legions, 3) Renegades, 4) Lost and the Damned then GW can lube that Codex, bend over and shove it up where the Sun doesn't shine.

We need rules for more than just the old legions/their warbands. We need rules for such as the Red Corsairs and newer converts. But I will just be happy if we get something to bring us up in line with the newer codexes. I would very much like to hear from some of the more reliable sources on this though before I get my hopes up.

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion

The bizarre thing about recent GW Chaos codexes is that they are generally the 2nd or 3rd most played faction according to numerous online polls and surveys I've seen over the last few years.
Why they dont make better codexes to build on that is beyond me.
