Subject: Which Tyranid Elites should I get?

So, I bought both the Wrath of the Hive Mind and Tyranid Swarm boxes which give you:
HQ
1 x Hive Tyrant
1 x Tervigon/Tyrannofex
Troops
3 x Tyranid Warriors
8 x Ripper Swarm
60 x Termagant
40 x Hormagaunt
Fast Attack
10 x Gargoyle
Heavy
1 x Carnifex
They noticeably left out Elites of any kinda. I was thinking of getting Zoanthropes for the extra Synapse. What do you all recommend?

Zoanthropes for Synapse/Warp Blast.
Venomthropes for Shrouded bubble.
Malanthrope (FW) for Shrouded bubble and Synapse.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

I know Venomthropes have Shrouded, but do they give other units nearby Shrouded as well?

I'm a huge fan of venomthropes, personally. They're pretty cheap, and if your tables are like mine, there's a good chance that there will be lots of ruins around. Daisy chain your bugs in range of the venomthrope, and you'll be looking at 2+ cover saves on dirt-cheap bugs. This can be rather nice considering you seem to be going the footslogging route.
The only problem with the venomthrope I see in this case is that your hormagaunts and gargoyles will potentially race outside its area of effect.
Also, if you do start leaning towards a venomthrope, strongly consider a malanthrope. Most weapons won't insta-gib a malanthrope, plus the malanthrope provides that Synapse you were looking for.
Double Ninja'd: Yes; venomthropes/malanthropes handing out synapse to other units is the whole point of the bugger. Otherwise, they'd just be overcosted poisonous guys.

ATTENTION. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Yup.
I'd scratch build a Malanthrope if anything, FW one is a little pricy.

They look fairly similar, the Venomthrope has longer tentacles and a taller "smoke stack". Looks pretty easy to turn a Venomthrope into a Malenthrope.
