So with the basic rules, you can pretty much dump range on a hero unit without to much difficulty since your model simply has to "See" them. So I'm wondering what is peoples definition of sight? I find it easier to simply state that if you can't see the bulk of the model you don't have LoS. I.E you can hide a leader in a blob of guys and even if you see a foot or arm you can't shoot them. I found it easier then dealing with any "look out sir!" house rules that have come up recently.

I usually set a standard with my opponent at the start of a game. The two we usually landing on are:

1. if it bleeds, shoot it. This means no weapons or flags or anything count for line of sight.
2. Torsos only. You must be able to see the torso of the model to shoot it. No arms, no legs peaking out from under apple carts. No flags. No horns.

These two make things much cleaner. After that, most LoS arguments can be resolved using "the most important rule of all" with little fuss.

I find AOS line of sight rules terrible.
Imagine 30 bret archers trying to draw line of sight through 50 pink horrors to shoot the changeling.
It's really freak'n slow.

I much prefer an abstraction (I'd play base to base of the same size blocks line of sight).

It makes movement, position and angles of fire matter a lot more.
