I'm looking for top down or "flat" printable "miniatures".
I need something like this for testing army lists etc, so I know what to buy next etc.
Any links for this kind of stuff?
I need tau, tyranids and orks.

Let me know
Thanks
Austin

Use artistic skill and draw them?

Get someone else to draw them?

I just realised that warhammer 40k can be played in two dimensions... why do i still buy models?

If you have a windows computer you'll have a program called snipping tool. It'll be under windows accessories.

You can use this to make super fast screen caps of something specific.

Go to the GW site and snip some models that you want to use then print it out.

Well, that's what I would do.

In the past, I've used poker chips to proxy armies, especially in the Hobbit/LotR games. They probably won't be the right size, but if you're basically just trying to get a feel for an army, they'll do the job. Just stick a model on top of them when height matters due to terrain and such.

You are, of course, welcome to care about how they look, but are you sure you want to put a ton of time and effort into it if you're just trying to figure out what units you like

Also, can you simply proxy models from a different army for the sake of testing out the rules? Papercraft might also help you.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

I just want something like the vassal sprites that I can glue to cardboard, and test out the models before I buy them.
It's not anything I want to put a whole lot of effort into,... I just want it to have the necessary aesthetic.

Cut out cardboard circles the same size as the base of your various units, then label them with symbols appropriate for that unit. For example, this is one that I made for Spess Mehreens.

When the only tool you have is a Skyhammer, every army begins to resemble a nail.

Why not do something like this?

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Did you make those?
I have basically 0 computer skills, and I'm sure something like that requires photoshop.
If I had the templates, it would be way easier.

Thanks

I'm running WIndows 10 and it is listed under Windows Accessories tab. In older versions I think it was in the system tools folder.

This link may be helpful in finding what you need:

Mac doesn't have one that I know of, but there are plenty available to download.

You could also try a program called Vassal40k. Although it can be a bit of an annoyance to learn to use and you mentioned you didn't have great skill in computers so I'm not sure why I'm even writing this post

Well either way; Google it and take a look. You could use that as an alternative. It's not perfect but would save you printing stuff out and using arts and crafts. Plus it has pretty much everything.
