Hey Guys,

So after being on a hiatus from 40k for the past several months because of an obsession with warhammer fantasy and Age of Sigmar, i'd like to get back into the swing of things. Before I had started playing fantasy 24/7 I had purchased two boxes of Skitarii and built them into Vanguard. My question now is, where do I go next? Skitarii isnt the usual army of 1 hq, 2 troops. It's more of an ally army with cult and knights. I already have some knights, but what should I get for Cult and Skitarii. I was thinking kataphrons and a tech priest for a Cult Detachment or maybe some Onagers for the Skitarii. So what are your thoughts... Thanks for the help!

P.S. dont suggest the crazy free equipment formation.

Well, there's the crazy free equipment formation...

But besides that, Kastelan Robots can be fun and I like Sicarian Infiltrators with flechette blasters.

Grey Knights 7500 points
Inquisition, 2500 points
Baneblade
Adeptus Mechanicus 3000 points

Get the dagoon ironstriders x2 in low points they are really useful with anti tank and anti infantry I wouldn't get what you listed till higher points because they are more target specific, then maybe get another squad of vangaurd then 2 onagers w neutron lazer or iccarus then ally in cult and get Dominus and then destroyers

Then get the IK because mechanicum, if you have the $$$ just get more onagers and dagoons maybe a little more vangaurd

I can say onagers and more troops would be a good idea

"Do you really think 7th edition was the best edition?"

"Yes, and I'm tired of thinking otherwise."

Thanks for the replies!

You guys make it difficult to choose... three different suggestions. Im thinking of leaning more towards dragoons/ballistarius and sicarian infiltrators though just because they have awsome models! Im worried about the dragoons/ballistarius just being blown away. Any effective tactics to stop this?

Typically you're right, they aren't quite as delicate as DE AV10 paper armor, so they can at least stand up to small arms fire like bolters and not fear it. But any kind dedicated AT fire will shred them at 2 HP and open topped.

The War Convocation really helps with this, Dragoons have a constant 5+ due to their fart dispenser. This goes up to a 2+ with the Shroudpsalm canticle. 2+ cover in the open is what keeps them alive. I would probably still run them even if I didn't have the the War Convo because they're such cool models, I just wouldn't expect them to ever do anything but draw fire. Trust me, people tend to fear big spindly walker things with big lances that scout, then move 9'' per turn. They will draw fire .

Hyperspace

Balistarii are trash, but Dragoons are excellent. I run two every game, and they often take ridiculous amounts of shots due to their surprise AV11 and cover save.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Okay, so what im getting from you guys is that I should pick up a couple of dragoons before doing anything else?
