Hello all,
Now i am fairly new to 40k and have been drafted in by my friends to be terrain maker. Now ive hunted and hunted for an answer but cant find one. Is there a size limit on how big your scenery can be? Or is it all good as long as it fits entirely on a 6x4 board? At the mo i am building a rather large cathedral as part of our narrative.
Bit of a noob question i know but any help will be much appreciated

Anything you can agree upon with your opponents is fine. I don't know if any rules on the matter exist and if there are, those are some pointless rules.

If it has places to stand, keep them at around 24" high at most. Shooting from a platform is useless if you are out of range.
Apart from that, how high is the ceiling?

There are no size limits or other restrictions when it comes to terrain, only the requirement to make a Datasheet to go along with it.
Most people would prefer terrain to match dimensions of existing terrain pieces, as this allows a degree of familiarity with the Rules already governing those pieces of terrain, but it is not a requirement. There are some very impressive terrain pieces that are more then a quarter or even half of a board. As long as enough room is given to move models around, including space to reach in to push the little guys, I see no problem with the terrain being large and complicated.

no limit, but it's best to be reasonable with most of your stuff. 1 or 2 massive pieces, and then aim the rest at what you would consider "normal"

There are no rules on the size of terrain pieces. The main issue is what is practical for use. This has two aspects, storage and transport, and the effect in game. Obviously a huge piece is hard too move to a new location. This may not matter to you.
The in game effects to consider are lines of sight to different sizes of model, types of cover, and terrain that slows down different types of model.
