Temple of Zakarum

I'm making a twilight kin list and am thinking about adding the breath weapon item to an assassin. Does the assassin's natural piercing (1) confer to the breath weapon attack as well as regular ranged attacks?

The piercing rule is not restricted to "regular" attacks but just would like to double check.

Nothing in the base Magical Artefacts rules or the FAQ prevents this.
