I dunno if I've ever introduced myself in a forum before.

I am LUNK!

Orks are my thing. I model slowly, but that is the aspect of the hobby I think I enjoy the most. I've lurked here for like 10(?) years, so I figured it was about time to buckle down and become a contributory member of this glorious society.

Glad to be aboard.

Welcome Lunk,

I'm assuming you like to convert your orks, do you have a specific theme in mind?

My boyz are Freebootaz united under the leadership of the rowdy upstart Ad'mrull Grizwagh and his associated council of knuckleheads.

Most of the boyz have come to join up in typical Freeboota fashion - many are former ferals, or exiles/criminals/runaways from the larger clans.

I've always rather hated the portrayal of Freebootaz as 17th century masted-ship-and-peg-leg-toting pirates, so I plan to subvert that as hard as I can. The boyz will display their affectations of piracy with a bit more subtlety and context-appropriateness. After all, why would an alien species from the depths of space in the 41st millennium bear any resemblance to waterborne humans from the atlantic ocean of Earth, separated as they are by vast gulfs of time and space? It's silly. I hate it. I dunno.

So I've been reading through as much source material as I can to gather a modernized(?) aesthetic for my space pirate orks. I'm going to play a lot with former clan loyalties, cultural aspects, and superstitions. Things like former death skulls and tribals still using warpaint, bad moonz responsible for a large amount of the skrap fleet's wealth and so big vehicles and the like may take on slightly badmoonish appearances, etc. I've also read that Freebootaz tend to adopt strong personal styles, so I'll strive to show that as well through tireless conversion efforts. You are correct in assuming I like to convert orks, Knightley. They are so damned convertable, after all.

I'll start up a proppa modelling thread when I have more photos uploaded.

And thanks for the welcome!

Hi. Welcome to Dakka. Looking forward to that modeling thread.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum
