Hello,
When I was about thirteen I picked up a book called Grey Knights in a car boot sale. Although I lost interest in it, the world of Warhammer 40K and its holy Imperium fascinated me. I can't say quite why. The Inquisition, the Grey Knights, the Imperial Guard, with the strain and sacrifice of defending a vast Imperium, the devotion and self-sacrifice of the Schola Progenia and the Adeptus Astartes (as a Catholic I find this particularly homelike, I want to be a monk -- most game settings (e.g. Skyrim on the PC) just have nasty, pagan Norse-type warriors, not devout, scholarly, self-sacrificing men, which the Church produced and which is far higher than the crude pagan cultures of Vikings, Saxons and so on -- it is imitating this, in having real devotion and sacrifice, as well as the priceless Latin/High Gothic setting, I think, that gives 40K some of its power)) the Emperor, who is the father and guardian of Man, seated on the Golden Throne to keep the frail light of the Astronomicon burning and the Universe safe from the demonic hordes, the foul heretics and mutants and the cruel, foul, wicked xenos.

''Septimus Severus'' is a character I mean to create, an Inquisitor. I know noone who plays so I am here largely because I find the setting deeply interesting and enjoyable as a mental recreation. I mean to obtain a small army though I must teach myself to paint.

Hi. Welcome to Dakka

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Deleted.

PS In this post I objected to the new High Gothic names -- I don't, on thinking about it, they are an excellent extra level of fluff.

Hi, welcome to Dakka. I always prefered a little bit of Khorne Flakes to start my morning; blood for the Blood God, skulls for the Skull Throne, lol.

Happy to see another Imperial player embracing the shadow of the Inquisition

It's a dark setting, that's why we give our guardsmen flashlights....
