Alright my next step in my plans for my Legion is to start filling out special weapons squads in the form of both heavy Support quads and tactical Support quads.

I've already worked out heavy bolter autocannons and the volkite culverins, but I'm trying to find what if any squads use the graviton guns. At first I thought it was going to be a tactical Support squad that could use them but they aren't a choice for them and I can't seem to find them as a choice for anything but a single model in a breacher squad. Is that really all there is to use them or have I missed something somewhere?

Contemptors and Land Speeders can take one. But my question is why? They're not good in 30k. Wounding regular troops (MEQ) on a 5+ AP4. Wounding anything stronger than MEQ on a 6. How often do you expect to fight GEQ or worse in 30k?

There are some tactical uses in it though, especially if you have an army that prefers to get charged than do the charging. My own Ultramarines firing at BS2 in Overwatch comes to mind. A Graviton gun might slow a charge via difficult terrain, then kill a couple in Overwatch and make them fail the charge just to get shot again. A nice idea, but I still wouldn't waste the points there. It's not good enough to really consider it a 'permission' tactic.

Graviton guns are decent weapons, but they don't come on platforms that give you lots of shots with them, they are one of the few weapons that are capable of taking down Spartan's with any reliability.

Grav is for the haywire and difficult terrain, and being a blast you won't be snap firing it in overwatch.

As for what can take grav, breachers, rapiers, landspeeders, and dreads. Iron Hands can exchange flamers for graviton if they are using their rite of war.

Thanks for all of the input I appreciate it, and it's helped a lot. As for why I was going to use the graviton guns, it comes down to mostly a choice of style (as I really like the look of the guns themselves), as well as just some extra added flavor for my different games throwing boulders at everybody all the time gets a little old, and I do face on regular occasion Orks, Nids (playing as random other Xenos encounters), and we have a couple of people who are building up armies out of the Imperial Guard codex to represent the Imperial Army instead of the elite Solar Auxillera.

So the use of things like Graviton guns and Volkite is a lot more useful than just against standard MEQ.
