I'm trying to make this army with what I have + what I can easily find on ebay. I'm starting from the BaC box and plan to get another dreadnaught and tactical squad off ebay to build the majority of this list. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, fluffy but pretty poor, you lack any meaningful anti tank, any real way to get to the enemy before you are shot down, as flamers are incredibly short ranged, the covenant of fire rite doesn't really work at such low points, try orbital assault and pod up, take a heavy flamer heavy support squad, 2 tac squads and some melta support squads, even then points probably won't allow it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to avoid using drop pods/orbital assault because the main army I will be facing is a night lords drop pod/terror assault list and I want to keep a different playstyle. Is there a way to make a more infantry army work with salamanders?

I tried making another list based on your feedback, trying to keep the fluffy part and add a longer ranged/ anti-tank component.

1500 Points - Pride of the Legion Salamanders

Praetor
-Artificer Armor/Iron Halo
-Digital Lasers
-Dragonscale storm shield
-Thunderhammer (Mastercrafted)
-Mantle of Elder Drake

Legion Tactical Squad
-19 Marines
-Segeant with Artificer Armor + MC Powerfist

Legion Veteren Tactical Squad
-9 Marines
-2 Meltaguns
-Segeant with Artificer Armor + MC Powerfist + Combi-melta
-Rhino

Apothercarion Detachment
-1 Apothecary with Artificer Armor(one the tac blob)

Contemptor Dreadnaught
-Multi-melta + CC/heavyflamer

Heavy Support Squad
-4 Marines + Sergeant w/ Missile Launchers

Sicarian Venator Tank Destroyer (or a normal Sicarian?)

I am also thinking that I could drop the Vindicator for a Master of Signals and put him with the Missile Launchers for his ordinance on turn 1 then the squad is hitting on 2s.
Legion Vindicator
-Dozer Blade

Swap the sicarion for a vindicator laser destroyer, that thing is amazing at killing tanks, the Venator is great for stun locking super heavies, only thing that can as far as I know, the vets are nice but expensive, so I'd suggest dropping them, splitting the tacs into 2 squads jn rhinos and upping the heavy weapons team, issue is the very low points game though, but got to start somewhere lol

Also, with pride of the legion all compulsory troops have to be vets/termies I think. I could be wrong, but I'm 85% sure.

One thing you'll want to consider taking whenever possible is a vexilla. There is no ATSKNF in 30k and being able to reroll morale checks is a big deal.

Another piece of wargear you might consider is the scanner. The 18" interceptor bubble can help with deep strikers.

At a low points level like 1500 I try to keep my HQ slot cheap and cheerful. You might consider the several of the consul options for the centurion to do this. One of my favourites is a siege breaker to hang out with a heavy support squad.

There is no Zuul, there is only war!

100% true.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Salamanders have a leadership re-roll built in their Legion Astartes rule, so we don't need a vexilla.

Can't run LoW in games of less than 2000pts, so Vulcan is out in a 1500pt list. Firedrakes are cool but with the Thunderhammers and Dragons Scale shields the models come with are 350pts so again, probably not such a good idea in such a small list. Pyroclasts could definitely be useful though.
