So I ordered the new Skitarii starting force for 85 bucks. I'm intending to use the provided formation, what ever it is, as allies for my marines. I'm not sure how to build them though. I play mech heavy marines IH tactics with a mix of sternguard, scouts and tanks. I have little experiance with ad mech and am looking if anyone has clear advice how either unit preforms. I a'm willing to burn a fast attack slot to give them a transport if need be, even though that doesn't leave a great taste in my mouth.

Always Vanguard, all the time.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Vanguard. Their threat range is much greater, they have the greatest versatility and are cheaper to boot.

As everyone else has said, Vanguard are certainly better for rules. However Rangers, while less competitive, are still fun and very deadly.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Vanguard do have a cooler helmet. That said if they win the vote, do people walk them or buy them a transport.

Vanguard are actually okay when you consider that you need to put more wounds onto Monstrous Creatures.

Vanguard are the better unit, but I do sometimes take Rangers.

This may help, though to benefit they have to be vanguard.

Nice special rule. Vanguard over Rangers.
