Hey guys

I'm making an Imperial Guard army in the near future and im trying to decide between the two given, and im wondering if i can get some general advice/opinions on either of them.

Cadians:

Pros

More model Range
More attention from GW in the form of formations/updates
cheaper Models.
(possibly more competitive due to More variety/formations)

Death Korps:

Pros

Stunning model Range (quite possibly the nicest models ive seen FW do)
More suited to my playstyle (i think) More infantry with artillery. Supported by tanks?

Im not going into the Details of Cons as i've not played either army. I'm just hoping to get some advice on what you guys would start up and why?

Thanks for any help

I think DKoK does indeed have an amazingly beautiful range however the price point is too steep in my opinion for the kind of collection I would want to build. So I am personally going cadians and thinking of maybe putting together a little 500pt DkoK project together.

The big question is are you willing to drop the cash for the models from FW and would you be using the guard dex? If so is that kind of cash for a currently subpar army a worthwhile investment for you? Also you can find tons of amazing deals for second hand cadians to make the difference even better.

People go to church and pray to entities for whatever reason. This guy just has his own set of theories. If 2000 years ago some guy wrote a book about the warp while lighting a bush on fire - there would be a whole bunch of people in temples right now worshiping warp related activity.

Definitely DKoK. The price difference doesn't come close to bridging the quality gap.

If you love painting the models, then go for dkok as they are stunning. However, imo they need to be display standard to do justice to the models, which is a lot of work on an infantry heavy army. If you just want to game with it and money is a serious factor in the decision, go for cadians. You can't tell a huge difference when they are on the table (a fact that once realized saved me a fortune), and you can always use the dkok rules in friendly games if you think you'd prefer the playing style.

If money isn't an issue, then dkok all the way.

Play cadians. Paint their helmets white and red. Put a red leaf on their shoulder pad. Now you play Canadians

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Get the DKoK models. You don't have to use the krieg rules, you can just play them as "regular" AM if you want me to. So you get two armies in one (sorta)

Catachans....... You buy Catachans.... Thier abbs are harder than steel. Catachans are born on a world where less than 50 percent don't survive until age 10 and then less than 5 percent survive long enough to be tithed into the guard. The plannet is literally constantly evolving to kill them all individually in the most grousome Venus flytrapy way possible. Each soldier is so muscular that they are called mini Ogryns or mistaken as baby Orks ( forgot where I read that). Also they all dress in the image of the Emporer of Mankind John James fething Rambo..…… ohh yeah let's not forget Colonel Iron Hand Straken who single handedly killed a miral land shark ( literally single handedly it tore the other arm and part of his torso off)..... Gunnery Sergeant let me wield this heavy bolter shirtless all by myself as I skull bash a Tyranid Ravener to death Harker.... And ofcourse Sly..... Did you hear something?.....Who's behind me?....... Where did this demo charge come from?..... Marbo.......
