So this morning my phone started playing up a lot. I should have 9.5GB of storage. I have about 5.5 used, but today my storage suddenly shoots up to 9.4! And on top of that my RAM gets nearly used up at the same time. Restarting or turning off the phone returns it briefly to normal, but then it shoots up again. Its screwing up my whole system and I can't get a new phone until end of March because a guy missold me a contract. Can anyone help with this please?

Well, if it was a computer I'd say there was some sort of virus. Not sure if those exist for phones though.

But really, I wouldn't ask on here for advice. I'd call customer service for whoever made your phone.

They exist, especially on Android.

If you backed up all your data, try resetting the phone to factory defaults. This should wipe all the applications and data except for the bloatware.

If you're desperate, get a cheap PAYG phone to tide you over until your contract gives you a new phone.

I had similar, and it looked to be all cache.
As long as it is Android, look in the settings under Storage (in More on mine).
It should split up the types of files, and the cache was taking up lots. It left me dump all that, and it worked a lot better since.

If the storage space hits near-zero, memory has nowhere to swap out to, and it will seize up.

If you were missold, I would contact the financial ombudsman, the mobile phone industry takes misselling very seriously, and I would never let my staff get away with it.

Attach a firecracker to it. Problem solved.
