Greetings,

I've been playing GW games since 2nd ed 40k, but Im just returning to the game after a lengthy hiatus. The last time I played was 5th Ed I think, and I'm looking for some feedback on an army I'm considering building.

I'm into fluffy casual play, (I.e. Forging the narrative) and I had the idea to do an iron hands/steel confessors with ad mech allies army. I'm curious about a couple things.

1. Do iron hands still have feel no pain in 7th?

2. Do iron hands or steel confessors work better for this combo?

3. What units should I be looking at to complement the strengths/ weaknesses of each codex? I love the kastelan robots and definitely want to include them. What other synergies are present between these two armies?

Thanks

1. Iron Hands do have FNP 6+
2. not sure how steel confessors are. All imperial armies including iron hands are battle brothers so there's no restrictions on them allying.
3. Iron Hands have perks that buff their tanks. Skitarii and cult mech are both all round great. With marines and admech you can't really go wrong, both strong factions.

Sounds fluffy and shouldn't be a bad army.

Also there's a rumour skitarii and cult mech are getting a new codex that rolls them in together as well as more units soon.

Sweet. Thanks.

Do you know what supplement contains the special rules for iron hands?

No worries

The standard Codex Space Marines has their chapter tactics which is all you need.

If you want more than just chapter tactics there's the Clan Raukaan supplement which you can choose to take warlord traits and relics from instead of Codex Space Marines.

Is Ruakaan still canon even though it's from 6th?

Clan Raukaan is allowed I think, but only the Relics and Warlord Traits. Only the SM Supplements were given this exemption (so Sentinels of Terra would be valid too I think?)

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I've heard that Clan Raukaan and Sentinels of Terra have been declared valid unlike other supplements such as Iyanden which aren't valid any more apparently.

Both Sentinals and Clan are still valid. They are still for sale by GW and nothing about them is incapable with 7th edition.

Thanks everybody for the great info. One last question:

Does anybody know where I can get iron fist water slide transfers? I see the tactical pack on the GW website but what do I do about terminators and dreds? I can paint to table standard but free hand logos have proven challenging for me in the past.

If the ones in the tactical squad box aren't good enough there's an Iron Hands Forge World transfer sheet... http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-FR/Iron-Hands-Transfer-Sheet
