So did anyone here ever watch the series of Galavant before?

I've never watched one soz but.. there are the mixtures of historical figures (Elizabeth, Richard, Isabella... all are the the names of Real life monarchs of the High-Late Medievals), and the typical medieval fantasies (Magicke, Unicorn, a 'pet little dragon' , Giant, 'Dwarf', The forest called 'West Hollow wood' (featured in the first episode of the Season 2, Kylie Minogue did starred the EP as an 'Elf Queen' .. dunno if the forest is actually populated with elves?) with a bit of gunpowder smoke. and so on...

- Are the blue bloods mentioned earlier modelled after the real life one? Is Richard (Rival to, The Boss of, and .... eh. a companion with Galavant... the protagonist) modelled after the King of England with the same name?
- Is the 'Valencia' shown in the series the same one as a real life Valencia in Spain? Is Gallavant set in the alternate earth or a totally different fantasy world? (either the Azeroth of the Warcraft verse, or the Middle Earth of the Tolkeinverse)

A bit of backstory please. meow

Galavant is a comic musical in period costume. Don't expect any sort of historical reality, just laugh at the jokes.

My fiance and I have enjoyed both seasons so far. There are at least two musical numbers in each episode, and the songs match the tone of the show--very self aware and satirical of the fantasy genre. The show often breaks the fourth wall by acknowledging that it is a show and pokes fun at the characters and situations that develop each season.

All in all a great show, and definitely worth checking out, but don't look to it for any semblance of historical accuracy. It isn't set in our past, and is instead set in a fantasy world.

It has about as much historical accuracy as Monty Python' life of Brian or the Holy Grail. They have some roots in the real world, but the rest is there for fun and fun only.

I hope there's a third season but I dont think they're expecting one. Was a pretty entertaining show. Not amazing, but definitely good and worthwhile.

Yeah, I'm hoping for a third season. We bought both seasons sound tracks because they are just fun. From their comments they definitely don't expect to come back. They even say in one song "unless we get another surprise renewal". Plus they gave Richard a Dragon

It's just a brilliant, brilliant fun show.

I actually just watched both seasons and then logged onto Dakka to see this!

I loved the first season but didn't really care for the second (I didn't like anything about Richard except Tad Cooper and the celebrity cameos felt a lot worse). Do the D'Dew will probably be stuck in my head for the next month.

Yeah, I will say a fair number of the cameos for season 2 felt like they were just someone saying "I wanna be on that show" and them slotting them in. On the other hand some were brilliant.

Everything else though I thought was great. The music is better (far more cutting at themselves and the network) and I loved Lassiter...erh...hmmm...Richard. The bits with the unicorn were genius.

They honestly weren't expecting a second season.

Yeah, the presented like they were going to get one to encourage the network but didn't expect it. They even joke about a couple times over the course of the season calling it a "surprise renewal".
