Hello, I have been collecting and playing nids for many a year and now looking at starting Grey Knights, having over 4000 points of nids I think it's time to start something new. I own an imperial knight already which I can ally with Grey knights. So for those of you out there who have played with or against grey knights what would you suggest I get?

This is just a guide if I were to restart Grey Knights:

You should start with at least 2 boxes of Grey Knight Terminators. Each box comes with a huge selection of weapons, wargear and awesome bits for any Grey Knight model. Craft 5 regular Terminators (equiping 1 with a psycannon and at least 1 with a Hammer) and magnetize as many of the weapons as you can. Then with the remaining models, you can build any type of HQ in the codex. Use the bits to make a Librarian and magnetize his arm to wield a staff, hammer or sword. Craft 2 Librarians if you can. Craft extra Terminators to wield all the different special weapons (another psycannon, hammer and falchions).

That alone is enough to create a single Nemesis Strike Force detachment with a Librarian as HQ and a Terminators Squad as Troops.

After that, purchase 2 Dreadknights and magnetize them to equip each type of weapon. Their most important options are the Heavy Incinerator, Heavy Psycannon and Sword.

From here, you have the basic Grey Knight min/max detachment. 1 Librarian, 1 Terminator squad and 2 Dreadknights. Now you should decide what sort of tactics you want to take. You can take more Terminators for toughness, Interceptors for mobility, or Purifiers for cleansing flame shenanigans (allying in Drop Pods if possible) or simply double up what you have and take another detachment of 2 Dreadknights.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Another option after you build your initial 1 Lib, 1 Term and 2 DK list is to purchase Draigo (or scratch build him but the actual model is pretty cool looking) and take allied Centurions for a Centstar.

A key unit will by the librarian. He's level 3 and he wears TDA, and is the only source of non-santic powers. I'd recommend a nemesis thunderhammer (5 points for strength 8 AP2 and the ability to instagib T5 and up models-suck it nurgle lords!) and the cuirass of sacrifice (to add IWND and FNP to give him more survivability). 120 pts is a bit pricy, yeah, but that's GK.
Go for 3 troops: 2 regular knights (a squad of 5 for holding backfield objectives and another bigger for holding no-man's-land's) helping and a unit of termies (with two halberds, a thunderhammer, a psicannon and a justicar with falchions for getting more attacks or halberd for extra strength, the hammer is wasted on him by virtue of the fact that the nastiest model in the unit he charges may fight him so he may die before fighting). Razorbacks are mandatory and if your opponent is cool with FW get the vortimer pattern, as you get a TL psycannon (just take a regular razorback and strap-on your dudes psy-cannons). If you want to go over six bodies per squad (I don't really recommend this, as GKs strength is WC spam so SMU spam for the win) get a rhino.

Should you choose a brother-captain/grand master I'd recommend to give him the TH/Psy-cannon combo should you face high toughness and low armor saves or the incinerator should you desire to keep him cheap and/or melt hordes. Don't take the psylencer, ID may sound nice but at the end of the day it's a six-shoot bolter. The only time I think it would be worthy is when you know there will be monstrous creatures a plenty.

At this point your army should be around 700-800 pts.
For elites, I'd recommend a MSU paladin squad to act as your HQs bodyguard and two purifiers. Purifiers can be beastly and will slaughter light armor and light-mid-weight infantry.
For heavy support I'd take a purgator squad with four psycannons and two ablative wounds and two dreadnknights with the sword (MC re-roll is quite handy with their weapons).
