Hi guys i had this idea for an army list and i just wanna its the stupidest thing or it may stand a chance

1x Captain with bike, power sword and gorgon chain - 170 pts
5x Command squad mounted on bikes with 1 apothecary and 4 with grav guns and storm shields - 230 pts
2x Dreadnoughts each with twin linked las and missile launcher - 250 pts
1x 5 man tactical with lascannon and dedicated rhino - 125 pts
1x 5 man tactical with lascannon and dedicated rhino - 125 pts

This leaves me with 100 points to throw around i was thinking an assault squad to back up the command squad

any input would be greatly appreciated

Looks like a solid start to me!

Personally I'd give the captain artificer armour and a power fist and maybe lose a storm shield or two to compensate.

Having the lascannons in the rhinos means they can't move and shoot well. Not necessarily a problem but something to consider. You could keep the rhinos stationary, or dismount the marines and have razorbacks, or go melta with rhinos instead of the lascannons for more mobility.

Best plan is to play and see what happens as a lot depends how competitive you opponent's list is.

I'd consider putting one Dread in a pod for a first turn/drop assault. Give it something like a MM for tank hunting or HF for clearing hordes.

Agree with GC about the LCs on the tac squad, a bit pointless imo. Maybe one with a melta/combi melta sarg and one with flamer/combi flamer sarg?

Also not sure every biker needs a SS, couild save a few ponts there.

Thanks for the info about the las, i was under the impression that if the rhino moved at full speed the passengers were unaffected and could still fire from the vehicle? And is the idea of losing a couple of ss to create a wall with the remaining ones to soak up fire?

Losing some of the SS is mainly because its unlikely that all 5-6 of them will be hit at once. Hence you can tank with maybe the first 1 or 2 and leave the rest towards the back.
You could also give the captain a SS and LoS all the front attacks on him. Leave one biker with a SS and save the rest.
If the Rhino moves full speed you snap shot only.

Sorry for the lack of understanding im still trying to pick up the rules for 7th after not playing since 4th. And i'm gonna give the ss idea a go gives me enough points to squeeze in another dread or a sizable assault squad

Shot down easily imo. Unless your terrain has lots of LoS and hard cover.
How much are you going to spend on the assault squad?

I was thinking of a 6 man squad with 2 flamers and jump packs for 112 pts. not really sure what else to do with the spare 120 pts.

Not alot has changed really dropped the las for a flamer and melta, switched a dread to twin hf and a drop pod, the captain doesn't need a ss as gorgons chain does the same job

1x Captain with bike, power fist and gorgon chain - 185 pts
5x Command squad mounted on bikes with 1 apothecary and 4 with grav guns and 2 with storm shields - 210 pts
1x Dreadnought with twin linked hf, power fist and drop pod - 140 pts
1x Dreadnought with twin linked las and missile launcher - 125 pts
1x 5 man tactical with flamer and dedicated rhino - 110 pts
1x 5 man tactical with melta and dedicated rhino - 120 pts

that all comes to 890 pts leaving an awkward amount

I really like that list, and i always forget about scouts its new to me that they have ws and bs 4, the autocannons on the dreads also seem like a great idea specially for popping transports from behind

Drop a dread in behind for a rear pop and the other sits in cover firing 2 ACs
Scouts arent amazing but they can get a good cover save and hold a backfield objective. And put out a bit of firepower.
Bike squad is solid and the captain is a hard hitter barring 2+ saves.
Rhino marines take obj and have obsec.

i cant remember exactly but at 1k he brings just enough to scrape the decurion so 4+ feel no pain and turn 1 deepstriking immortals with the lord. if i really wanted to win i would just change my chapter to Angels Revenant , but without that i think i would just change every special weapon to a plasma and see what happens

The Captain and Command squad will do a lot of work. The PF of the Captain wrecks stuff.

I would recomend always taking a combi-weapon that matches your special weapon in each Tac squad.

I also play a lot of Decurion Necrons, and my answer is Grav. Grav-Cents are simply amazing, and I take them in every game I play.

A lot of people have to tried to sell me on combi weapons but i'm not really seeing the point, what real difference can 1 flamer shot really make?
