Hi folks,

Having recently finished the first 1000pts of my genestealer cult army, I loaned my old tyranids to a friend, so she and I could set upon each other in some 1000pt fun.

Having been so close, we decided a battle report would be a good idea, and put one together for the game, including photos, diagrams, story-style fluff elements etc... Here's hoping you enjoy it.

Nice report, and a great format. Definitely thanks for sharing.
Technically, the LatD (genestealer cult) player should not have been able to put a dirge caster on the Russ, since by the terms of the Eye of Terror codex, IG vehicles are not eligible for chaos vehicle upgrades. Otherwise a very entertaining report.

Great report. Thanks for posting. I really liked the firing diagrams as they aided understanding of the battle immensely.

I agree, great, great report.

The LatD army seems quite optimized (lot's of Las/Plas, and two Ordnance weapons) while the Tyranids seem more of a mish-mash of units than a cohesive force, so the outcome isn't too surprising. The army really needs a flying Tyrant.

As for tactical choices, I was surprised the Gargoyles didn't join in the fight against the mutants immediately with the Stealers. If they had charged together, I think they could have tore through the enemy unit and then the stealers could have charged and killed the Basilisk while the Gargoyles moved on.

Actually, here we figured a flyrant would die on the first turn, hence the reason she chose a broodlord. The idea behind that was the broodlord would join the gargoyles once it's unit had been shot away.

The gargoyles left the mutants alone bceause we figured the stealers would be safe in CC while the gargs went and engaged the guardsmen. Ah well.

Glad you folks liked it anyway. There's a link at the top of the report saying 'previous battle report', in case you want a look at any more.

My only problem with this batrep is the fact that the Stealer cult is illegial (Dirge caster on the russ), and you rolled for clense, but set up for any other mission.

Other than that its a great report!  Love the mouse over effects!

Excellent report! It reminds me of some of the old fluff where the stealer cults are as unhappy to see the Tyranids as the normal humans are. It would be interesting to see an actual cult army against the bugs, and you seem to have the figs to pull it off. You should give it a go.
