Ahoy. Working on a project right now that requires German titles for each section, but the best I can manage is wrangling with Google Translate and a dictionary and given the amount of effort I'm putting in on other parts I'd appreciate a hand getting this bit correct Have a look at the following, what it's supposed to say is in brackets in English:

Ein Bericht über die dunklen Bewohner des verfluchten Stadt Mordheim.(An account of the dark denizens of the cursed city of Mordheim.)

Der Kult der Besessen.(The Cult of the Possessed.)

Auf Rattenmenschen.(On Ratmen.)

Die Orks und ihre koboldoide verwandte.(The Orks and their goblinoid kin.)

Schützenfest der makabren.(Carnival of the macabre.)

Biestmenschen, die Kinder des Chaos.(Beastmen, the Children of Chaos - this one is pretty much a total guess since GT shat itself repeatedly no matter how I structured the phrase)

Thanks guys, that's brilliant. I went with Schützenfest over Karneval because the Collins Dictionary said the latter was more in relation to celebratory religious events while the former was more akin to a village fete, which sounded more "right" when considering how the Carnival of Chaos operate - am I missing some nuance there?

"Schützenfest" is a very specific kind of celebration, strongly connected to local areas. It's people in gun clubs meeting in tents and drinking tons of beer with a marksmanship test as the celebration's highlight (shooting a metal eagle from a distance with a traditional rifle)...but it mostly is about drinking. A lot...and terrible, terrible German volksmusik. you can only endure with tons of alcohol...circle complete.

"Schützenfest" wouldn't be a fitting translation. "Karneval des Chaos" would be ideal if it fits the context as it has a quasi-aliteration in it (K and C are pronounced in the same way in this case), but otherwise, I'd stick with either "Fest" or "Karneval". In a professional translation, you would use the Latin Name as it directly translates the semantic content which German can't.

"Karneval" has nothing to do with religion (anymore), it's about people dressing in costumes and building giant, mobile platforms built of plastic, papier-mâché etc. that often either represent the group's identity or parodize political / social events in recent past (e.g. caricatures of famous politicians), organizing in large processions that tour around town and throw sweets towards the bystanders. It's a huge event in February.

Interesting thanks. It doesn't need to be up to professional standards, I'm just using German titles for flavour the text will be in English, but I wanted to take slightly more care with an actual language people speak than 40K/fantasy stuff usually does with Latin, for example Karneval it is then.

Sigvatr got it all quite flavourful and nice.

You could also go with "Über Oger und Bergvolk", meaning "About Ogres and Mountain Folk". And "Von Orks und Goblinartigen" or "Von Ork- und Goblinartigen" (the second would imply orc-kin and goblin-kin) would work if you want to push the "kin" think a bit more.
