I'm talking about things like drop pods, land raiders, rhinos, Imperial knights, land speeders, etc.
I can't find any clear answer on this.

Take a look at the various army lists/Horus Heresy game books that Forgeworld publishes. You'll find your answer there. As an example, there is no entry for a Razorback, so you can't use one. There IS an entry for a Rhino, so you can. The Rhino has different options and default wargear though, so it's not identical.

There is no clear answer. Some people have a very strict "Take whatever model you want, 40k or 30k. It's all good!" while others have a very strict "Only play with FW models!" It's up to you and your group. There is no FW 30k drop pod, only Anvillus Dreadclaws and the Big Ass Dreadclaw. Since you can take regular drop pods, you have to use the regular 40k drop pod model, right? The same is true for Assault Bikes. For the Imperial Knights, there are specific 30k models from FW. However, I believe that the stock 40k loadout for the Knight is an allowable option, so you should be able to take the normal 40k Knight. There are FW models for Rhinos, land raiders, and land speeders. Also Bikes and Jet Bikes.

in the fluff, basically every 40k plastic model that has rules in 30k can and will work in a 30k army (since most of these "modern" patters were new in 30k, already old, or just from a different forge world) Automatically Appended Next Post: plastic land speeders, drop pods, and certain knights are the ONLY way to get those models in 30k. beyond that, basically all basic transports and the base landraider pattern are also in 30k with no major changes. outriders can use any kind of bike (smooth FW or plastic)

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field. |

Don't forget the Imperia Guard. Almost all IG models can be used in 30k for the milita. Just get rid of priests and some artillery (not sure about all of the models you can bring)
For the marines you can bring pretty much eveything apart ftom thunderfire, storm talon, storm raven and razorback (and some specific equipments like storm shields/thunder hammers termis if you don't play IF or Sala).

About the only things in the 40k Space Marine plastic line that don't have equivalent 30k units are Centurions, Storm Talons, Storm Ravens and the Stalker/Hunter. And even then you could easily count the Stalker/Hunter as the Whirlwind AA Variant, and the Storm Raven could probably make an effective Storm Eagle count-as too (I think they're the same size). The resin Thunderfire Cannon could probably be counted as a Thud Gun too.
Weapon and upgrade options will vary between 30 and 40k, but you can generally scrounge enough bits to make at least the basic weapon options. Lascannons, Flamers, Plasma Guns, Autocannons, Melta, Missile Launchers etc are all still used in 30k. 40k Grav Guns/Cannons would make suitable 30k Graviton or Volkite count-as (though not both at the same time).
