So! I've just been getting into dark eldar, have a few boxes of models painted so far. And I've been doing internet research on how to play the army, and I'm confused.
Everywhere it says that Reaver Jetbikes can make a turboboost attack by flying over enemies, causing D3 hits at stength 4 for passing over them. Does this still exist? Because I can't find it in my codex anywhere, all it says is that bladevanes allow rending hammer of wrath attacks.

This rule was in the old codex. Scythveines I think. (I'm to new to have played that codex). The only current model with this legal rule is the tantalus by forgeworld.
Reavers now get better HoW attacks.

The 'flyover attack' rules for the grav-talon, scythevanes, and cluster caltrops were replaced with modifiers to the Reavers' Hammer of Wrath attacks.

Things were better then... I had 3 full squads of Reaver Jetbikes with 3 cluster caltrops in each and the damage they could do with a 'fly over' was amazing... I miss old Reavers...

The new way is less cheesy, but it's pretty dangerous awesome in its own right.

They replaced that rule with the buffed up Hammer of Wrath attacks with Cluster Caltrops and Bladevanes.
And that's fine, actually - the HoW is quite strong.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

Never played under the old codex, but the D6 S6 Hammer of Wrath attacks with Rending from Cluster Caltrops is excellent and even the standard S4 with Rending is usable, I think I'd rather have this than the old Bladevane rules.

The problem with the new version is that your stuck in combat. If the HOW doesn't do much, your normal attacks wont do much and then you get shredded by whatever you attacked.
In the old rules you buzzed over the unit and that was that. You got to do damage and were not locked in place free to move. Some people might have cried foul at that, but really, how hard is it to kill T4 5+ save guys with anything that isn't a grot blaster? Remember, Jink didn't exist back then.

I still wonder why DE Reavers get only a 5+ save while all Bikes or Jetbikes get a good one. Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, Eldars, they all get a 4+ or a 3+.

At least its a step up from wych suits that are only a 6+ and that reaver jetbikes are pretty much driven by wychs as I understand it.

I thought about it too but it's not consistent. Eldar Guardians riding the Windriders have a 5+ Save and end up with a 3+ one. Boyz have a 6+, but a 4+ on their bikes.
