From my experience, a Tyrannofex works well. It will force your opponent to focus his good AP weappns on that.
Apart from that, a Toxicrene is a solid chooce as well if you can drop into cover.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness. |

Devil guants are great, as are dakkfexes. I like zoanthropes or even hive guard for anti tank. Basically any of our shooting units are excellent choices. Heck, even pyrovores become better with a Tyranocyte.
I don't like pure assault units, as you have to get good reserve rolls, and then wait an additional turn to assault. So turn 3 at the earliest. Only exception I would make would maybe be a tervigon as they can also spawn and get their psychic phase.

I prefer a unit of 20 Termagants all armed with Devourers, or a Carnifex armed with two Twinlinked Brainleech Devourers. Usually the latter.

Black Bases and Grey Plastic Forever:My quaint little hobby blog.
40k- The Kumunga Swarm (more)
Count Mortimer’s Private Security Force/Excavation Team (building)
Kabal of the Grieving Widow (less)
Plus other games- miniature and cardboard both. |

15x devourer wielding gaunts is a solid choice, I have found though they have a tendancy to fluff on arrival then get exterminated by blasts. If you are running genecult and are lucky enough to get 'invisibility' then I can see this unit being very annoying to remove.

I like full squads of 20 devilguants. Statistically they put out enough firepower to take down 5 marines in a single round of shooting. Back in 5th edition/ early 6th edition, I ran just such a squad. They were the work horses in my army. Now in 7th, our ground presence can't stand up to Titans or mega Death Stars, so I tend to either take to the air or go MSU. Still, they are one of my favorite Tyranid units to run.
