Fluttering Firewyrm of Tzeentch

Fluffy list for a casual(ish) setting. Long story short, these are the survivors of a vicious Iron Warriors mutiny.

HQ
Sorcerer - Warlord, ML3, MoT, Disc of Tz, Burning Brand, VotLW, Spell Familiar, Sigil
Daemon Prince - ML3, MoT, Wings, Armor, Black Mace, Spell Familiar

TROOPS
5x CSM - Rhino, Meltagun
5x Thousand Sons - Rhino

FAST ATTACK
5x Spawn
Heldrake - Baleflamer

FORMATION: Helcult
Helbrute - Plasma Cannon, Power Fist
10x Cultists
10x Cultists

FORMATION: Daemon Engine Pack
Warpsmith - VotLW
Forgefiend - 2x Hades Autocannon
Maulerfiend - Lasher Tendrils

Tactically, the idea is to have cultists (fearless) camp on backfield objectives. The forgefiend (BS5) operates as a strong backfield gun battery along with the helbrute (3+ cover from cultists). The warpsmith repairs the gun battery and provides assault support with the helbrute in case of deep striking, outflanking, or infiltrating enemy units. The rhinos are 'hail-mary pass' forward objective takers with the heldrake as their support. The spawn & sorc (shrouded or invisible hopefully), daemon prince, and maulerfiend are all super offensive assault units meant to distract, challenge objectives, and redirect the enemy forces. As this is CSM, it will never be a hyper-competitive list but I think that if I play for victory points and go in ready to take heavy losses to obtain them, I have a shot at winning some good games.

Hunting with the 13th

Looks like a fun list. I would increase the number of fearless cultists, though, putting the 'meat' back in meatshield. I would also consider a combi-melta on the CSM champ.

Would you consider a bike for the Sorcerer, as opposed to the disc? You could free points by dropping the disc, MoT, VoTLW, and Sigil, and still have a fairly fluffly representative of Tzeentch.

I would also upgrade the spawn to mark of Nurgle (spit in the eye of fluff, but hey..they are spawn), but finding the points for this could be a challenge.

Love the list, simplicity at its core. I have three squads of of the Scourged CSM, for fluffy games as well.

In my experience, Maulerfiends work best with partners.

Forgefiends are a flavorful gun battery, but have a premium for what they do. In this kind of casual setting, I don't think its a big deal, however.

I think a squad of CSM in a Rhino with two flamers would be a solid addition in an objective based game.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am married to the disc for the sorc and MoT because he's the center of all the fluff. Tzeentch rewards a fallen Navigator with psychic abilities and daemons/mutation in exchange for leading the insurrection. For that reason he kind of needs to be over the top, but I will say his ability to cast with the spawn up until assault and then turboboost back to safety has come in handy more than once. I could possibly downgrade sigil to aura in order to free up a few points.

As tempting as MoN is on the spawn, I've kitbashed my own spawn models so they look extremely tzeentchy, so that's unfortunately out of the question.

I will definitely try to find points for more cultists. Fearless 50pt units seem like they would be unbelievably good for a list with so many distractions and bullet magnets. Although, at 1850 I have no idea where they'd come from unless I thin out the spawn or remove some of the DP's ML's.

Another 5 man CSM squad in a rhino would definitely be included if this went to 2k points. This list needs more rebellion survivors from a fluff standpoint.

It's true, forgefiends are very overpriced but its one of my favorite looking models, so he stays. Plus with BS5 instead of BS3 his valuation increases sharply.
