Hey All,
I've been debating with a few friends on the possibility of what would happen if some form of jink would be added to jump pack troops. As such, just something as a 5+ jink instead of a 4+ standard bike jink. The hope it so try to see some benefits to a jump pack over a bike, because currently there isn't much. What are your thoughts?

IMHO, jump infantry should have Jink, while Bikes should not. (Jetbikes, fine, because they're basically flying at low altitude.)
That would have some balance implications to be ironed out, but those can be handled.

Why would Bikes not have it? Jink makes sense for them. (As much as the current Jink can make any sense)

I'd have to say no in general. I think it would come down to whether you could reasonably expect the unit to have a measure of controlled flight, which I think would end up penalising Assault Marines whilst Hellions and Gargoyels get better.

Speaking of Hellions, here's a fun fact: Hellions were the first ever unit to have "Jink", although it was called "Jinx" and provided an invul save. Funny how they don't have that rule now

Kinda. They still have regular Jink which is probably why they lost the rule. Exhaust cloud was written before Jink was a USR, so the designers probably though it was redundant.
Hellions have no such save and they practically invented it.
On topic, I don't think that "Jump Infantry" as a unit type should have Jink, but it would be cool if a few specific units were given the rule (like Hellions or Nid Gargoyles)

I’ll agree that if jink is to be handed out, it should be on the ultra-agile ones, not stock for everyone with a rocket strapped to their back.
I think a simple way to help out JP troops would be to let them use their packs in both phases, rather then having to choose one. Guys like RG, who already can, should get another boost to compensate.

Indeed. The Jump Type is a brute force movement option, and not usually granted to subtleties (high I races like Gargoyles and Eldar being a possible exception). Jink would actually fit the more "hovering" aspect of the Jet Pack Type, but that one usually doesn't come across as capable of fast move, either.

They still have a form of it though (+1 cover after turbo boosting)
