I want to collect a Militarum Tempestus army inspired by the Colonial Marines from Aliens, which means conversions I don't want to hear that's it's not competitive and is going to lose every game blah blah. I've heard it all before and I don't care. However, I would like to hear from players that have experience playing Militarum Tempestus and how things could be tweaked and optimised. I'm going for cool factor while maintaining a measure of playability. Thanks in advance.

10x Scions: Bolt Pistol - 2x Hot-Shot Volley

Connecticut

Double check your point costs for Scions. Currently you don't seem to be adding the cost of special weapons.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

Thanks for the comment. I was missing the Meltaguns for the Hell Brigade. Thank you. The others are correct. Keep in mind that the two units of 70 have no special weapons. They hide in the Vendettas and jump out late game as an obsec surprise of sorts.

You may not be able to deploy in the AM transports as per the new FAQ,

I'd look into that before you put money down

Damn! Good point. Thanks for flagging that. The FAQ isn't official yet, but I think the restriction is not being able to embark in Allied transports at the beginning of the game, right? Technically, the Emperor's Spear Aerial Company isn't an Allied detachment and IG and Scions are the same faction, but it is a good idea to wait. Not being able to embark in the Aerial Company scuppers my whole plan and Scions need Vendettas to maintain some level of play-ability. I know I could take Scions as a platoon in an Elites slot, but then I need to waste points on Grenadiers Veterans that don't come with Hot-Shot Lasguns and I lose the Tempestus orders. Ugh!

Are they specifically the same faction? Should say explicitly in the codex.

Since you have a CAD, consider a cheap bunker with comms relay.

You won't lose every game, just a slim majority.
