Nice to hear about this happening!
DES MOINES, Iowa -
A first-of-its-kind store in Iowa is opening Friday at Merle Hay Mall.
Warhammer is a hobby store that sells fantasy collectible miniatures that customers build, paint, and play games with.
The store will be open from 5-8 p.m. Friday and then hold its grand opening Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
The store features a full range of Citadel miniatures, paints, and tools in a variety of science fiction and fantasy settings. Warhammer offers tables for gaming as well as free workshops on painting and modeling.
Warhammer is located in the mall next to iWireless in the new south Flix entrance.

Will be interested to see if the stories of delayed shipments to other local FLGSs happen now. Otherwise the guy running sounds like a good guy I'm hearing. He'd reached out to the people running miniature games at a few other the other local stores to go out for drinks and chat. I Think only our guy took him up on it, but they went for pie instead. He was not previously familiar with Warhammer but our guy has been teaching him how to play. Sounds like he when he's got larger events he wants to run he'll direct them to us as he lacks much gaming space so I'm also curious to see how that cooperation works out.
Also I was amused when a couple of the local players came over from our game room a couple weeks ago and were like I don't want to rat anyone out, but did you know you have a flier advertising the grand opening of one of your competitors on your public bulletin board? Yep. We know. We put it there.
All in all I'm curious to check the place out sometime even though I've been out of Warhammer for a few years now as I've never actually been into a Warhammer store since there's not been one in my state before, and this place is only a few miles from my FLGS.

THAT is news! They set it up out there, and in a great location... someone actually did their homework on the placement, this time.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

It was originally going to be in Jordan Creek a year or two or I forget exactly when that was ago, which is the bigger more upscale mall in the area. I've not been to it in years but I've heard Merle Hay is fairly downtrodden anymore.
