Subject: Did Eldrad actually destroy the infinity cicuit? And, if so, what happened to the Astronomican?

So I attempted to flick through the current Death Masque fluff thread to gage exactly what is going on, but it seems that that thread has jumped straight into screaching at GW for scrueing over the Eldar because their god wasn't summoned and the Deathwatch killed Eldrad.(?)
However, after some reading into the Death Masque I now understand what has happened.
But some things are contradicting each other: from what I gathered, if Eldrad was successful, the infinity circuits would be destroyed and the Astronomican blinded. Conversely, Eldar fans seem to be crying out that the infinity circuit was destroyed; does that mean the Astronomican was blinded as well?
Can anyone shed some light on which is the truth? (I don't want to get my hopes up if the Imperium's space nagivation is lost )

So Eldar fans were crying for nothing (besides Eldrad being murdered and their God never appearing).
Anyway, thanks.

I'm sorry, I feel for Eldar players. This is the first time in recent years that GW have actually gacked on them rather than continuously giving them nothing but the best.

The hatred towards Eldar only comes up when all people use are over powered WAAC lists, this hatred is not something only Eldar experience it is what anyone who takes OP unkillable lists get.
I have never come across Eldar being banned anywhere. I have heard of Eldar being nerfed by removing/nerfing certain OP units, but once again this is not something only Eldar experience; any 40k combo lists that are almost unbeatable are nerfed in these places.
Is this going to be one of those cases where the person/people complain because they are too priviliged?
"We don't have any friends in the community and TO's keep banning are armies just because we abuse the OP units in our codex!"
EDIT: I might have let the salt get to me in that last part.

The alternative is the worst story ever. Chapter 1 they win the end....:p

Eldrad didn't destroy the Infinity Circuits, he drained them of souls.
It was said the Astronomican would be drowned out if the ritual succeeded, it failed but the moon did still light up like a Christmas tree and the story ended soon after, so the exact fall out is still unknown.

Eldrad didn't die. He was conducting the ritual to summon Ynnead, when Nihilus (the Venerable Dreadnaught) fired a Plasma Cannon in his face. Eldrad had to divert his attention to a psychic shield to protect himself, the ritual faltered and Eldrad was forced to escape through the Webway.

There seems to have been a lot of complaining that the thing people didn't want to happen - the gutting of the infinity circuits and crippling of the craftworld Eldar - didn't happen.

These probably are the same people who hold anti-Xenos RL attitudes. The poster on /tg that gave one of the first reports of the outcome was one of those and was positively ecstatic because he seemed to interpret the Eldar failure to mean GW was going to destroy the Eldar as a faction, and then he hoped this meant GW would then move on to destroy the Orks, Tau, then all other non-Imperial product lines. Nevermind that this would be GW committing financial suicide. Needless to say, his initial report was not the most reliable given his bias.
The ones complaining about the Eldar losing are the ones fearing it is another round of GW making the Eldar the go-to whipping boy whenever they want the Imperium to look good.

Keep in mind, too, that GW was teasing Eldar pretty exclusively the whole week prior to the news of DM; yet the sum total of new things they got were...a new sculpt of an old model. Oh...And a crazy-specific formation of harlequins which was pretty similar to other ones. Not only was the story a letdown, the actual box content was. That's why I was disappointed more than anything else.
If it's going to be no new content, give us better story progress. If it's minimal story progress, give us some RL toys.

I don't think it's the loss that's really upset people, I think it's a perception that the story behind that loss might not have been plotted or executed as well as it could have been.

The entire novel felt like «worfing» famous well established badass special characters like Eldrad, the greatest psyker of the eldar race, and the harequins, the very best fighters of the eldar race to demonstrate how badass was captain Artemis (first official transgender Space Marine, kudos for him) and his battle brothers. its a very cheap and lazy thing to do and all around feels like sometimes the author don't seem to be capable of representing eldars, or any non ork xenos, correctly. They are pretty much all like the same faceless sandbangs for the hero to shoot without much savor.
