Hi all,

I'm currently working on an Imperial Guard army with mostly mechanised infantry with Artillery support. Hoping to start taking it to semi-competetive tournaments in the near future and wondered if anyone might give some feedback on it.

CAD 815pts
Company Command Squad 166pts
Bolt Pistol
3x Meltagun
Vox Caster
Chimera, Dozer Blades

Veteran Squad 176pts
Bolter
3x Plasma Gun
Vox Caster
Grenadiers
Taurox

Veteran Squad 146pts
Bolter
3x Meltagun
Vox Caster
Taurox

Infantry Platoon 177pts
(Platoon Command Squad 45pts
Grenade Launcher
Autocannon

Infantry Squad 61pts
Boltgun
Autocannon

Infantry Squad 61pts
Boltgun
Autocannon)

Leman Russ Main Battle Tank 150pts

Emperor's Wrath Artillery Company 685pts
Company Command Squad 176pts
Bolter
Lascannon
Astropath
Chimera

Enginseer 40pts

Basilisk 125pts

Hydra 140pts
2x

Manticore 170pts

Inquisition Detachment 34pts
Inquisitor
3x servo skulls

The idea with the list is that the platoon act as bubble wrap for the heavy artillery and Russ, Inquisitor babysits them and limits deep striking melta with servo skulls, and the mechanic infantry run up the field as spotters and to apply plasma and melta to the face. Not entirely convinced there's enough armour saturation though or if I'd be better off swapping the platoon for an aegis and adding MOER TANKZ.

Any thoughts and idead appreciated =)

From what I've been told on here, just drop the russ mbt for literally any other variant (the Executioner is a tasty bugger) as without lumbering behemoth every weapon on the mbt russ is a waste barring the battlecannon. :(

I am quite a fan of the battle cannon, but I take the point. I would probably swap for an executioner or preferably a Demolisher, so I've got a large AV14 distraction carbide lumbering down one side whilst my vets do their thing. Either of these options need another 5-20 points though. Not sure where I'd find them. My instinct would be lose 2 servo skulls for the executioner but I feel like that would probably remove the point of the Inquisitor all together. Alternatively losing one and the carapace from the vets would work? Or maybe the astropath could go and be replaced with a heavy flamer?

That aside, do you think the list in general would do OK?

I would leave those skulls if you can, they are really the one surefire way to stop people sneaky-beakying your tanks via infil. You could then instead go for another melta-vet squad instead of the plas-vets as they will burn themselves up unless there's preferred enemy being granted to them (afaik) and then the executioner can do their job.
