I was wondering if anyone knows any third parties who produce the slightly nicer 3D blast templates along the lines of the Vortex grenade & Storm of magic ones?

I think that the vortex grenade is the 3" small blast and the Storm of Magic are all 5" large ones? Is this correct?

I guess it will have to be ebay if no-one else does these

If you don't mind a little work you can make your own. Hobby Lobby and other craft stores have usable items. You could use either a half-sphere of wood, or half of a Christmas decoration ball. Both are available in 3-inch diameters.

The wood half will cost about $6, the plastic Decoration ball is about $1, but you get two halves for that dollar. Just primer it black and paint on some lightning bolts.

Might seem obvious, but it is helpful to have them see-through (or at least semi-transparent) to give accurate model coverage for blasts.

I made up 2 more vortex templates from the PACKAGING the vortex template came in - back in the day. Giving me 3 for the price of 1. 1 was a few mm smaller than 3" and one a few mm larger, but all were close enough (given it was an apoc item at the time - and if you were counting mm in apoc, you aren't really getting into the spirit of the game).

It was both loved (as a gamer and modeller) and hated (by those gamers who also retailed stuff ... )
