So, I have recently inherited a Tau army from a friend, and have been enjoying playing them, but own most of what I want for them. Since I paid pretty much nothing for them, I was looking to start my own army. I'd like to get into one of the big three SM armies, and was looking for advice. It seems like Space Wolves have less individual units, but focus on making them really customized, but in the current game it seems like we want more bodies, less goodies. I'm an avid reader of the various 40k books, and have always been more focused on the story telling aspects of the game. I really want the options to do assault well, but to be able to build a shooting army that won't get completely wrecked.
To say what I am looking for, and need advice on what works best, is that I want to know which of the Big Three, Blood Angels, Space Wolves or Dark Angels would be best for what I am looking for.
1. I'm a big fan of customization, having lots of options for my various units.
2. I love Predators, Razorbacks, Landraiders, Terminators, Dreadnoughts, Jump Packs, and melee infantry. I play Tau for my shooting, but as I understand it, Dark Angels shooting advantage is in overwatch, they shoot like regular marines? I like the idea assault, and throwing lots of dice.
3. I like the basic theme of all three, and so I am stuck trying to figure out which fits my play style best and can make the best use of my favorite units(note: Best use, not competitive, I get to play once a month, and I like watching people play competitively more than being involved)
I have bugaboos with each army, and I love parts from each army, which is why I am stuck. All three have "good" terminators, but it seems that Wolves have the best options for customizing them. It seems like Blood Angels have the best Predators and Vehicles, since they're fast and they have a unique Predator? All three have formations that allow me to take full Terminator armies, and I have access to Thunderwolves or Ravenwing for cool fast guys.
In order of importance to what I want to model and use in my army are:
1. Terminators
2. Tanks(Razorbacks, Land Raider, Predators)
3. Jump Infantry
4. Dreadnoughts
5. "Bikes"
So, please offer me some advice or links, if you please, and feel free to vote in the poll.

Tanks aren't particularly different from one to another (BA have the Baal Predator, all three have the Forge World Relic Predator/Sicaran that let them replicate a lot of the things it does). DA have more interesting Terminators and Bikes, BA have more interesting Jump Infantry, BA and Wolves both have interesting Dreadnaughts.
Space Wolves and Blood Angels are more melee-oriented, DA tend to a combined-arms approach. Customization is going to be pretty similar in each army, you've got a wide range of kits with interchangeable bits and units with lots of available loadouts.
Not sure I can really point to any Chapter that's any better than any other, given these parameters, even if I go into the vanilla Codex.

You already like assault over shooting for this new army (totally understandable, I play Tau as my main army too), so I'd take DA off the list.
SW have much better melee than BA and even a superior codex/supplement. I think SW would be your best choice
However, terminators SUCK. If the group you're playing with isn't very powergamey, this won't be much of a problem. If they are, you'll be in dire straits!
SW Jump Infantry isn't worth noting, as their bikes. Their Dreads, Stormwolf (?) Cavalry and (from supplement) Wulfen are badass

I don't have a competitive group, we have several Ork players, a Dark Eldar player, and a guy who plays Eldar and Tau, then the rest of people only show up for tourneys and they mostly bring Skyhammers, Tau or Scatterbikes. Plus if I want to compete, I'll bring my Tau, I'm mostly interested in running the units I want to. It seems like most things are cheaper in points and more customizable for the Wolves, I'll just need to figure out how to run Razorbacks and the various tanks in their list sometimes.
