Subject: Genestealer Kiss Marks?

Hardened Veteran Guardsman

Is there a way to tell if someone has been infected by a genestealer? I'm aware there are some usual facts (hyper sex drive, running off with offspring), but is there a way to tell without exposing other humans to a potential infected?
My thoughts were along the lines of a guard force, away that genestealers are present, regularly having the men and civilians checked one way or another (chemical, physical, maybe mental). It would be a little touch, but those are the little things like that which take the fluff from the uber-edgy grimdark to the other, and in my personal opinion more preferable, grimdark but not hopeless on the small scale (Gaunt's Ghosts as an example).
Thanks everyone.

I'd guess some DNA sampling could do the trick.
They're Genestealers for a reason

If the infection is recent, the wound is fairly distinctive (Ciaphas Cain and Inquisitor Vail find some and recognises them for what they are). Very recent infectees are often disoriented and confused (so they don't blab to friends about "what the bloody hell was the purple thing with four arms" before the brood mind takes complete control).
Once the kiss has healed over.....there is a recognisable bit of biologic matter left in the wound, so a sufficiently sophisticated medicae auspex could pick it up, I guess, and certainly a medicae mortuus autopsy could find it.
Of course, detailed genetic checks of the kind that'd reliably turn up an infected (as opposed to a hybrid, who actively has a genetic divergence from human) are sadly going to be the prerogative of high-end officio medicae and adeptus mechanicus genetors......meaning hard to do and unworkable on a large scale (like, say "the planetary PDF"). Doing it on a small scale (like, say "PDF officers with access to the Lord-Governor's command centre") is more feasible.

In one of the old Warhammer Monthly comics there was an Imperial Guardsmen, bitten by a GS. It did leave a mark on his neck, I'm sure of it.

If the poor Inquisition weren't so darn busy infiltrating, investigating, and exterminating so many other dang troubles, they might have time to check each of the trillions of folks in the Imperium for signs of Genestealer infection. Not that the entire Inquisition is even aware of the threat. In the timeline, the existence of Genestealer infection and the resulting Cults is a very newly discovered one (according to the discovery of the Ghosar Cult in Deathwatch: Overkill). Less than 400 years before the current time. And very isolated. And, it don't help that when the local Genestealer Cult becomes obvious. it's as a beacon to the Tyranid Hive Fleets. Which means the entire discovery process is made superfluous by an impending massive invasion.
